The future of the Wii

In my opinion its looking very bright, with the great games coming out like Red Steel 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M, No More Heroes: Desperate Struggle and The unnamed Zelda title. The graphics are good when developers actually try like High Voltage and Retro Studios, and you have the motion controls which the competitors are jumping on board with. The online is the worst of the 3 consoles but it was Nintendo's first crack at online so the Wii 2's will but much improved i hope. The Mii's were a great idea you saw how quickly Microsoft followed that idea with the avatars. My only problem i have with Nintendo at the moment is they still haven't started releasing gamers choose games like Sony with the platinum and Microsoft with classics.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

I agree that the Wii's future is very bright. It's definately the most popular console out there, but mainly because it's a family one. I guarantee that the majority of consoles brought are buy parents/grandparents as a family console to bring families closer together (which is a good thing, don't get me wrong). I think the graphics are good but that's not it's main selling point (pretty obvious what that is though :P). I'm looking forward to a Wii 2 if there is one and see how they can improve on an already awesome console.

I also likethe idea you suggested of the Wii's own 'Platinum' and 'Classics' game selection.

If a console can capture the audience of my mother, it's a good console. In which it has done.

My mother always told me that she didn't play video games since the NES came out because she couldn't ever figure out how to get over the first pipe in Super Mario Bros. 1.

Oh well, at least nintendo has an audience.

Its also starting to get a good collection of hardcore and mature games now like Madworld and House of the Dead: Overkill and The Conduit and No More Heroes. The Gamecube had gamers choice games so why not the Wii.

Phantasy Star Online came out originally on the DreamCast. The entire Phantasy Star series was registered to the Sega division starting on the Sega Master System. It was only after Sega tanked did Nintendo gain the rights to Phantasy Star and placed it on their gamecube. It also came out on the xbox and Windows. All three of which were online featured.

It's really, really easy. Nothing about that game is in any way hard or challenging.

Yeah i'll give you that it was pretty easy it wasn't that hard getting all the stars. But you can't go past the great controls and graphics and its something new. And so much fun :yay: and the fights with bowser were great i reckon. Bee suit = cute and fun, Spring suit = major fail.

I have mixed feelings about the Wii, I think it's a good console and it has many great games... but the third party support for it pitifully low. About the only notable ones are Tales of Symphonia 2 and No More Heroes, a lot developers are put off because of the motion controls and I don't blame them for that. I prefer normal controls over it any day although there are some cases where they work really well, like Metroid Prime 3. The only reason the sales are as big as they are was stated already by Mitas, it's a family console. Moms and dads buy it, little kids love it, hell... even grandparents are suckered into buying for those little fitness games.

However, for really big gamers like me the game library is severely lacking, especially when it comes to RPG's.

Tales Of Symphonia 2 is pretty good lol, my friend is obssessed with it So I played it when I went round hers haha.

Mario Galaxy was WAY too repitive and easy for me, It didnt really interest me either, which didnt help. I didnt even think Mario Kart Wii was THAT good.

I only really like No More Heroes, Zelda games, Red Steel 2 looks good, the first was a bit...meh, Super Smash Bros as well.

Yes the third party support for the Wii is very terrible because they don't take the Wii seriously. It does have its games for the hardcore's you just have to find them. Mario kart Wii is GREAT!!!! The levels are great and the online sucks you in for hours. If the Wii had High Definition graphics and its own form of achievements and trophies the third party support would grow, since a lot of people only care about graphics now.
