When I get internet in my home again we have an option to go wireless. I have a Laptop so am for this, but we have a family PC so the internet will obviously have to primarily based on that. What I wanted to know was how I knew whether my PC is wireless-compatible or not? It's around 4-5 years old if that helps. If not do I have to get a USB wireless receptor or something like that? Sorry if the question is a straight-forward one, I'm not too computer-savvy. |

MOST Laptops have wireless built in. The best way to tell is when you go to control panel to look at the network connections, it will say you have two connections. Wired Lan connection and wireless device, or like this; ![]() Otherwise you'll need to pick up a wireless USB adapter, or Notebook card. Both are pretty cheap if you buy them online. |

Oh sorry I didn't explain it well enough. I meant my family PC, not my laptop. |

Same thing. Just check your network connections first. Depending which version of windows you have you should see notifications now and then that say "Wireless Networks Available". If it does not, you probably don't have wireless built in. If you bought your computer for the base price than it probably didn't come with wireless back then. I bought mine a couple years ago and they wanted me to pay a ridiculous amount for the piece itself and the labor of plugging it in which takes like 2 seconds. |

If it's a desktop you'll need to get a pci wireless card. They are cheap, and not many if any desktops come with them 4 years ago. |
