How many of you fear them?

32% of the Sexually Active population will encounter one. Do you believe this is true? Do you believe receiving or giving one can be a life altering change or effect you mentally?

Wow, that's quite an intimidating statistic, whether it's in regard to such a broad topic or not.

It is a bit scary, yeah. I've been in a four year relationship with somebody that was formerly a virgin (as well as myself), so it's all gravy here baby.

I just read today, in the United States alone there was 1.2 Million NEW cases of STI's just from 2008-2009. Main age range, ranging from 13-19.

That means kids are exploring their sexual tendencies as humans. I don't see anything wrong with that. And I also see nothing wrong with getting an STD as long as you understand what it meant in the first place for doing the do without protection.

I agree Brian, however... What about the risk some of these young kids are taking ? 13,14.. I think thats such a young age to start being sexually active. I know its expected, but still. Some STD's can be serious infections which can risk your life or give you dangerous complications. I know if the sex is under consent, they can't blame anyone but themselves. But don't you think a little more attention to these facts and to the subject, may make teenagers restain or atleast be alittle more careful, or even honest with theyre partners if they do have one.

Whose to blame, the one who has a STI and doesn't tell the person they sleep with, or the person who goe's to sleep with someone with one and gets it without knowledge than passes it on.

No. What are you going to do to stop it? It'll happen no matter how much prevention you think you are putting into the system.

If you want people to realize the problem here, teach kids about cause and effect.

I agree. A huge part of the problem is the focus on abstinence only sexual education. Kids in school aren't learning how to protect themselves if and when they chose to have sex. If they taught more about contraceptives and the proper use, I'm sure there would be a lot less floating around out there.

Teach kids about what causes STDs. Teach kids about the frightening annoying effects of an STD or 2. Tell kids how easy it is to cover your weewee in rubber. And we have a solution. It's that simple. Or we can all be true to our Catholic faith such as myself. Alleluia.

Yeah. You get them to start doing that and i'll stop arguing religion. Until that day.
