It was just in a rescue situation, the way the person was tought became there instinct and it was wrong. To make it clear, some padi schools teach rescue breathes by kissing the forhead in training. I have heard someone actually do this in a real rescue.

You just have to think of it as what the training is targeted at. PADI is more for the tourist market, not expected to really continue it on to going say once a week, whereas BSAC, who I amtraining with is slightly more tech and isaimed to those who are into diving seriously, "Diving for divers", BSAC moto.

Ah, I get ya now. I did do it up in Samoa so tourism was the only option really. Would love to dive more often but can't really afford to get my own gear, or to hire :(

But wow, some people... I've got a friend whose family all have PADI to different extremes from Instructor to just Open Water and they have never complained about it, but we are fairly practical people here in NZ :P

Though they don't actually do the rescue breathes in Open Water, it's done the next one up. Which I suppose now thinking about it doesn't make too much sense. All we did for emergency was CECA (??) and buddy masks.

If you want to discuss it more we could make a thread in the free talk zone rather than off-topicing spreeing here??
