Well, what do you mean by a 'less valuable life'? Is the life of a man that started orphanages across the world, cured innumerable diseases and donated millions to charities more valuable than that of say Saddam Hussein? In what context? Can you buy things with a human life you have taken? Are the lives of different people all of differing values? And if so, who is right to judge that? |

It's not a second chance, it's a second chance if you let them continue to live in freedom, removing someones freedom is not giving them a second chance, also in the eyes of some killers, being executed would be giving them a new life, some extermists for example, so by killing them, you are giving them a second chance. Some serial killers who get locked up for life end up commiting suicide because they will never be able to kill again, a religious killer probably wouldn't but there are others that do. Let's have a stright forward example, if you really enjoyed using the internet and you where caught downloading illigal games, your punishment was to be banned from using the internet for life, how would you feel? At first you might be angry at the people for punishing you in that way, not seeing quite what you did wrong, but after many years, it would sink in and you would see what you did wrong. Now if it was punishable by death (extream I know) then you would never have gotten the chance to think about what you have done. Long story short, if you take something away from someone that enjoys that activity, they will, after time have to face up to what they have done, killing them stops them for even having to think. |
