So I was watching the news the other day and there was a segment about the Swine Flu. According to medical officials we are now in the 2nd wave of the pandemic. Although let's forget about the bad and be less negative.

-We can all go in lockdown
Personally I'd rather just
-eat food with vitamin D; eggs, milk, fish, cereal (I already eat alot of that)
-wash my hands alot
-encourage people who are sick to not go to work or school. (there are still people I see on the street who are coughing DONT YOU WATCH THE NEWS! STAY HOME!) [I avoid them btw]
-Vitamin C; fruits and juices
-Move to a warmer climate
-Avoid playing hockey
-Avoid shaking hands
-Avoid having a girlfriend
-Avoid having sex

I guess you guys can detect some sarcasm in there, although seriously, stay overcautious. People are lining up for the vaccine even though the vaccination is not offered to the OPEN PUBLIC YET.

Cool, I think it's appropriate, the media has blown it out of proportion, maybe it has the potential to be a pandemic but it's not one. The majority of people who died have been descibed as having "Underlying health problems" meaning that the flu probably wasn't the cause of death, it just didn't help.

Wow. You realize that you are the poster boy for igniting fear in those who thrive on doing everything the media says to keep you from getting sick.

So, now that you've completely bore me with your silly propaganda, i'm going to go living my life like you didn't just say all that.

I don't know about you, but I don't like getting sick period. I've heard that a hockey player from New York Islanders had the swine flu last week but now he's cured and ready to play again. So I know that getting the swine flu won't kill everybody.

Although, I don't want to get sick regardless of the fact. Seriously how can you live your life knowing that there are 2 flus out there. Meaning your chances of catching a flu have.. doubled!

Does anyone think of vaccinations as well?

The odds haven't doubled, they haven't changed because they are diffrent strains making them two diffrent viruses in essence. There's also the cold virus, which most people get atleast once a year, everyone gets sick with something at some point, there's no point getting scared of illness, a lot of things can be cured or treated to help, for a fit and healthy person, the odds of flu killing you are very slim and getting a vaccine for yourself would be putting the more vaulnrable at risk, those who could die, the weak and unhealthy.

I wouldn't get a vaccine until all the people with vulnerability illness have been vaccinated. Personally 2 summers ago I got a flu, from then on I tried my best to avoid getting sick period. I did not like the feeling of having a blocked nose and a soar throat. So basically if anyone can avoid getting the regular, they can avoid getting the swine flu.

Obviously these things happen, but it wouldn't hurt to eat an orange (unless allergic) or wash your hands when you get home. etc. These things don't even apply to the swine flu, I'm not trying to scare anybody! They do however lead to a healthy lifestyle.

There are some people that may be going to far, such as staying home all the time and avoiding society. Although I don't advise that.

I fail to understand how people couldn't have estimated any kinds of other animal flu after the fiasco that was bird flu. That turned out to not be harmful to humans at all and the media just made it stupidly out of proportion. As far as I'm concerned swine flu is just another strain of flu. It doesn't matter what animal it's from, it's just flu. There are different strains of "regular" flu, i think it might just be a mutated form of the flu, which in reality it could be, but as Kyonko said, what pandemic? I've not heard anything about it since when I came back from New York in the summer, except for the fact that we know it's not going to kill us all like media would like us to think. Enough said.

That's not flu, that's a mild cold, proper flu is so much worse than a blocked nose and sore throat but if you're healthy, it's not life threatening.

They are however, symptoms of the flu. Accompanied by fever and cough. I went to work that day with a fever. Quit 2 weeks later, no one seemed to acknowledge my will to work, despite coming in sick.

Cold has some of the symptoms of flu, doesn't make it flu, if you had flu, you wouldn't have been able to go to work, you would be fatigued and have stiff joints. A runny nose and a bit of a cough is not flu.

Where did I say I had only a runny nose and a cough?

Going to work for a day with the seasonal flu isn't a big problem for yourself. despite putting everyone at risk, you could function 8 hours doing very light work. Aspirin does help relieve the pain, water keeps you from sweating out into dehydration so I think that helps you from falling into fatigue. Many people go to work with a flu. A seasonal flu is no big deal at all. (For healthy people)

The better idea would be to stay home, and rest up.
