Hey, I can't believe this topic has not been started yet. Especially with England owning the most dominating record in the tournament. They just beat Croatia 5-1, and they're in one of the tougher groups as both Ukraine and Croatia are not only respectful opponents but have also been included in the last World Cup. Sureley one of them won't make it to the upcoming World Cup. It's also worth mentioning that Belarus, though not a great team, has a strong rivalry with Ukraine which may have enhanced their play. Anyways group's not over yet. Another interesting group to see is Group 7, Lithuania and Austria have stepped up their play to put up with the French. Serbia has taken a comfrtable lead in the group. While Romania, one of the group favorites, is second to last. Meanwhile Portugal desperatley needs to win the rest of their games if they want to make it to another World Cup, and the current World Champions; Italy got a much needed and deserved win for not only raising their lead in the standings, but also improving their confidence. |

We English don't like to brag you see >_> lol Anyway, the real action starts when you add teams like Italy, Germany, Spain, France and Holland into the mix. Although Croatia and the Ukraine are good, they aren't as formiddable as some of the Spanish, German, Italian, French and Dutch teams that have been around in the not too recent past. Granted, if England kept losing to teams like Croatia or Ukraine or Sweden and the like, it would prove that they still aren't one of the most elite international teams, but since England gained Fabio Cappello as manager they've improved significantly. We'll just have to see how well they can cope against the other top European teams, let alone Brazil and teams from elsewhere in the world in the world cup finals. |

This is a good start for England, considering about 2 years ago they were unable to beat teams like Croatia, and now they're dominating them 5-1. Personally I think they're the team to beat in 2010. For once they have a good team, and no Englishmen are bragging. During 2010, I know the classes aren't made yet although I'll keep an eye for England:dominating good teams, want to erase the bad memories of 2008. Brazil: Began the campaign badly, but bounced back and proved they're agless when it comes to the sport Spain: Never won a world cup, never looked this good. Italy: World champions, after an average Euro campaign, and a horrible Confederations Cup, this team is just in a phase of rebuilding and mixing chemistry in time to be a champion again. USA: They've proved that the team from the under class CONCACAF circuit can not only match up with the best teams in the world, but also beat them at their own game. last but not least, South Africa. There's always an African team that has a good tournament, as far back as I can remember. What better way to have a great couple of games than in front of your home fans? You are forgetting that Croatia played really badly in the game, if they were upto the usual standards it would have been a tougher match but I still think England wouldve won. I am pretty confused why Capello keeps playing Heskey, hes just not a goal scorer, Defoe is better in pretty much every way, apart from things like height and heading. |

Is that the excuss they give? Not just because they are actually not a very good team now? lol, as I recall, the first time they played England, they lost 4-1, I mean England could just be annoying to Croatia and accidently lose to Ukraine, since England have finished first anyway, it wouldn't really be too important and it would get them back for Euro 2008 but are they that bitter?

I think a team to look out for is Russia. They have a fairly strong side but they are a team that can really improve during games, playing in gears. I will add some tommorow, tired :P |

lol. I think Russia might be someone to watch too. I don't think Argentina goin' in at all this time around and I hope USA does well as they have been. I haven't really kept up with this sport the past week because of NFL starting up but I'll be sure to get into this as well. |

Netherlands Italy Serbia England Spain Germany Denmark have all finished first place in the group and qualified for the World Cup. England lost to Ukraine, in either a miracle or a pact for the Ukrainians. In order to qualify for the playoff round, Ukraine need to now win against Andorra, who has not won a game in 5 years! Every Euro team's last game will be played during this week. Ghana, Cote D'Ivoire, Japan, Australia, North Korea, South Korea, USA, Mexico, Brazil, Paraguay, and Chile. Have also qualified from other parts of the world. |
