I'm 26, I'm belgian but I live in Denmark. I create digital art for movies, comercials and computer games and have been doing so proffesionally for about 6 years now. I first got my hands on digital visualisation with deluxe paint 4 on my amiga 1200 =) I was 15 at the time so it's fair to say that I have 10 years of experience working with digital art. I have touched quite a few arias if I have to say so myself =) these include ( not a full list ) : programming, animation, modelling, shading, texturing, storytelling, cinematography, 2d concept art, level design, logo design, rendering, rigging, flash, html. Now, not long ago I saw the abomination that is DragonBall Evolution. It even hurts to write that title :S After which I decided to begin working on this thought I've had for quite a while now. You've probably noticed the picture by now so I'm guessing you have a pretty good idea on what it's all about =) The idea is the recreate the original DragonBall ( not dragonball Z sorry ) in CGI. The style will be more of that from Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Realistic without loosing the anime feel. I am expecting to change roughly 10% of the original DB. Don't worry, the characters and plot will be identical. I will be using the original sound from the english version with some editing. This is not a comercial thing, it is my own personal project. Any ideas, comments, critique or just thoughts are welcome =) This image just like all the images im going to post on this thread are work in progress and not final =) A work in progress of Goku's hair. I think the tail looks good, but I think it should be a really dark brown, to somewhat match his hair color. also, I'm not sure if this will help, but I think if you did Goku's hair similar in appaerance to the way they do Sora's hair from Kingdom Hearts, it will look more realistic. I guess they make pigment layers that have individual strands of hair, with transparencies between them, and then place them on top of certain parts of the hair model and face a little bit, so it looks more like real hair, despite it's being in a very stylized pose., but then again, it might look better to go with a really stiff looking greasy hair style that just happens to be in the shape of Goku's hair lol. oh, and then you could do the same thing for the fur on the tail, making it look a little longer and like hair so it would match the hair on his head to a degree, making it look like it's really genetic rather than just a strange non-human appendige. those are just some of my ideas though, your stuff is still looking great as is.

Yeah the hair I made on that image is still very early stages and it is actually individual strands of hair, they're just very very neatly put together so i need to tweak that. Yeah I'm not sure about this actually. Because kid goku is suppose to be quite a bit of a "monkey boy", not just because of the tail, but the way he moves and fights etc. If I make the tail black and more hair like, sure it'll match his normal hair but his whole monkey personallity will not be as clearly apparent to the viewer. I want to make sure that the stuff I change in DB isn't damaging or changing the personalities or plots... or at least it changes them as little as possible.. because i think that is when you get angry fans, including me =) Thanks a lot for the ideas/critique, keep it coming =D
