Besides love, we all know our loved one is the most important person for us, who is the most important person in this world for you?
For example, for me, I'd have to say Maynard James Keenan
Vocalist from Tool, A Perfect Circle and other smaller projects, I seriously think this guy has the strongest lyrics in the world. I'm not talking about his voice, or how nice he is etc, but his lyrics are just epic, he studied history and knows a lot about politics. And the best part is, his songs don't sound like your typical headbanging the world is gonna end screw politics song. Its much more abstract than that.

For people who like to analyze you can read this, or else the others can just move on and post :|
I'll try to make this a little quick by showing you one of his songs an an example of his huge creativity.
One of Tool's songs, called Lateralus, is 100% based on the Fibonacci sequence.
As soon as the first 4/4 riff is done at the beginning, they go into a next section thats 9/8, 8/8, 7/8 time signature.
Interesting because 9-8-7, the time signature, can also be seen as 987, the 16th number of the sequence.
As soon as the verse starts, he then starts singing according to the sequence, the syllables go 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 5, 3, then he starts at 13, 8, 5, 3, and then he restarts at 1 later on.
Now why should this be interesting? Because the Fibonacci sequence is all about adding the sum plus the previous number to make the new one, 3+5=8, 5+8=13, 8+13=21, and son on, here's whats insteresting. I took this from wiki cause its pretty much what I want to say
Quote:

The title track, "Lateralus," incorporates the Fibonacci Sequence. For example, the syllables of the lyrics follow the Fibonacci pattern, and the time signature of the chorus rotates between 9/8, 8/8, and 7/8 time, referring to the 17th Fibonacci number, 987. The theme of the song describes the desire of humans to explore and to expand for more knowledge and a deeper understanding of everything. The lyric "spiral out," which is sung repeatedly throughout the song, refers to this desire and also to the Fibonacci Spiral, which is formed by creating and arranging rectangles for each number in the sequence's 1,1,2,3,5,8,... pattern, and drawing a curve that connects to two corners of each rectangle. This forms a never-ending and infinitely-expanding spiral.

So basically, by relying on that sequence, and the very last part of the song

Quote:

With my feet upon the ground I move myeslf between the sounds and open wide to suck it in.
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out. I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
Spiral out. Keep going.
Spiral out. Keep going.
Spiral out. Keep going.
Spiral out. Keep going.
Spiral out. Keep going.

It shows how she should "spiral out" and explore, just like the song and sequence

ETC. perfect video explaining everything here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wS7CZIJVxFY

i'll stop talking to hear you guys, but this is just an example to show you guys how someone can be important to me, how much depth there is to their work...unlike.....lady gaga

Haha, I agree.

If we cannot choose our loved ones, then I guess I would go with a few people. Akira Toriyama, Akira Yamaoka, George Lucas, and Matthew Bellamy.

Those people have greatly influenced my career choice.

John Lennon.

His songs are the ones that have made the biggest, lasting impression on me, the ones I think "Damn, that song was deep!"

A close second would be Paul McArtney. Though he seems like a bit of a tosser, he too has had some amazing songs, that inspire me every day.

I know eh :)
Ahh, Matthew Bellamy, a great influence! The others I'm not too familiar with except Akira Toriyama i think

And MIKEYboy, also a great influence! If it wasnt for him, my most important person wouldn't have made a remake of Imagine, and I'd be missing out on something good.

Thanks for replying guys!

David Bowie would be the most important celebrity (It's unexplainable but if he didnt exsist then life would suck balls), but if we're talking about people we know, the most important people would be my family and friends lol.

The most important person to me is me. It's selfish but if you think about it for a long while I think you'll realise you're exactly the same, I just openly admit it. My friends come second of course and then comes my influences and heroes.

I agree. I'm the most important person in my life. Think of it this way, if you don't look after yourself, you won't be here, and what's the good in that because then you won't be able to look after all your loved ones.

Anyway, this is a hard one for me. I'm not such a big music lover that it has changed my life or changed me as a person, but I really respect the band Sum 41, mainly Deryck Whibley the lead singer/guitarist. Lupe Fiasco is another artist that I've only recently started listening to but his lyrics are powerful and I love his work.
Satoshi Tajiri (creator of Pokemon) must have had an impact on me because I've been a massive fan since the age of 9, and it's also the base of my friendship with two of my biggest friends. And also Akira Toriyama, because again it is the basis of a couple friendships and also introduced me to this forum which has definately had a possitive effect on my life.

But to pick one it would be Satoshi Tajiri, because I can't imagine how my life would be without the 3 friends I met through it when I was 13.

That's only true to some extent of well being. I for one can say that although I don't particularly want to come to any harm, I still despise myself due to my low self esteem. Because of that pretty large factor I don't rank myself as important. So what you're saying isn't true.

I really have to think hard on this one, and still thinking. I can't think that any celebrity or high profile person would be as important in my world, for myself. Popular culture has never influenced me, but rather the people around me. Surely popular culture influences peoples choices, and people make trends. Although I don't know what starts the trend, and who makes the trend!

I have no choice but to say Jesus Christ. Disregard that biblical crap, but I'm an apprentice carpenter and nothing gives me more charm than my gold cross necklace. It has more carrots than Bugs Bunny.
