Yeah, this story is the prologue to the plot I made up for an RP site I made and maintain currently. The first person to guess correctly what this RP is based on gets a virtual cookie. Except Raspberry, 'cause he's on the site and that's cheating. * * * Around the smooth rock, silver in the moonlight, the alpha’s sat in expectation. The powerful wolves sat apart, all of them glancing at each other occasionally: this was the first time that a peaceful meeting between packs had been organised in these parts for generations. It was bitterly cold, and they sat shivering, the chill wind sweeping through the clearing. Only one amongst them seemed at ease in the cold, lying down casually despite the tense atmosphere. One of them, a large, grizzled wolf, stepped forward, scowling. “It is near enough moonhigh. Where is our host?” he growled. “Patience,” barked the wolf that was lying down. His voice was soft, even soothing. “She will be here. I feel that this is as important to her as it is to us”. The scarred alpha growled deep in his throat. “Do not seek to calm me like an anxious pup!” He snapped in reply. “Then stop acting like one!” Barked another wolf. This alpha sat hunched and miserable-looking near the clearings end, like he was prepared to leave at any moment. As the large, furious wolf prepared to growl a scathing reply, a rustling was heard by all the pack-leaders. The rustling was loud, deliberately so. It had been agreed as such: to surprise the alpha’s of the river-wolves was to seek death. Out of the undergrowth came their curious new friend, who had previously met with them all, and had made an interesting enough proposal for them all to spare her, and also to go against nature and meet here, in peace under the full moon to hear more. The tigress stepped elegantly from the undergrowth, and looked around the various alpha’s that she had brought here. She stalked to the smooth boulder, and leapt atop it. She sat on her vantage point and began washing her paw with her tongue. The pack-leaders all padded forward, looking up at her, the full moon above them reflected in all of their eyes. The tigress set her paws down, and spoke for the first time: “I apologies for being late: I was saying farewell to my son.” “Ah, the infamous Sabre, you mean?” Asked a small, dark grey wolf. “A shame. I would have liked to meet our fearsome new friend” he grinned. “I’m sure you do, but his task is as important as our own in the plan I have come to propose to you”. “You have sent him on an errand,” growled the large, scarred wolf, “that is part of a plan we have not yet agreed to. You are this confident that we shall agree?” He asked roughly. The tigress blinked slowly at him. “Yes. Yes I am”. The scarred wolf snorted, but indicated for her to continue. “Before we begin, I feel that we should introduce ourselves; I doubt that any of you did so before I arrived.” She was right: the alpha’s would have rather eaten a pack member than spoke to their rivals. The small, dark-grey was the first to speak. “I am Spite, alpha wolf of the Pack of Dark Paths” he barked. The scarred wolf that had spoken out earlier spoke next; “I am Fury, the alpha of the Pack of Glorious Onslaught” he growled proudly. He was followed by the miserable-looking wolf; “I am Hate, the alpha-male of the Pack of Blooded Fangs” he muttered grudgingly. A very dark grey, nearly black, wolf spoke next; “I am Dread, first amongst the Pack of Endless Carnage” he hissed quietly. A couple of wolves pricked their ears, having heard his name before, in dark tales and nightmarish stories. The next to speak was easily the largest amongst them; “I am Greed, leader of the Pack of Moonless Nights” he barked, taller than any other as he sat at full height. A wolf with a sightless, scarred eye amid a series of scars introduced himself next; “I am Envy, alpha of the Pack of Unending Rage” he barked swiftly, like he wished to get this meeting over with. A silver-grey wolf spoke next; “I am Despair, the alpha-wolf of the Pack of Fanatical Bloodlust.” He barked. A couple of the alpha’s narrowed their eyes: they had heard of his pack before. The last to speak was the handsome, silver-grey wolf that was still lay casually on the ground. He scratched behind his ear with his hind leg, seemingly oblivious to the others that were staring at him, waiting for him to speak. When he did, it was in an insolent drawl; “My name is Malice” he stated, and resumed scratching behind his ear. Envy growled softly at his disrespect, before the tigress spoke again, staring at the full moon overhead as she did; “Every full moon, the warrior clans upriver meet in peace to share news and discuss problems, as dictated by the Warrior Code. Although they make war on each other for many reasons, the warrior lifestyle binds them all together, giving them all common ground to found peace upon.” “Did you bring us here to talk about the virtues of clan life?” growled Hate loudly. “We are not like clans: the packs are as powerful as any cat-clan”. “Greenleaf is a season of bountiful prey, yes?” Asked the tigress fiercely. “Then why do your ribs show through your pelts? The prey is scarcer than normal; the deer and elk have learned that the river they would drink from is cut off by predators. The packs that live in the forest here are many, and have warred for generations. Your battle-hardened skill is matched only by your inability to co-operate. Borders are set up only to be ignored and shifted and fought over. Despite the hunger that grips you all, you cannot find common ground. In this way, the packs are inferior to the clans”. This was met by several loud yowls of anger. Fury barked threateningly at the tigress, who raised her head proudly, not responding to his threats. “You dare to call us inferior?” he growled furiously. He padded closer to the rock, narrowed eyes on the tigress all the time. “You dare to call us inferior to our face?” “But she has a point” barked Despair. “Let her continue.” The Fury’s lips curled in the beginnings of a snarl, but he sat down again. The tigress nodded to the silver-grey alpha, before continuing: “I can offer you a way to change this. I can offer you the means to take more territory; territory that has been denied to you for many, many generations.” She looked around, pausing for suspense; “the clan territories.” The alphas broke into harsh laughter. The first to stop was Dread, who addressed the tigress; “How shall we do this, then? Shall we storm the forests of the leopards, only to be ambushed and slaughtered? Shall we fight the lions on their moors, and be massacred there? Or do you plan to lead us to our doom in the marshes of your kin?” The tigress stiffened, before retorting. “You do not understand the clans. They believe that threats come only from each other: even when bears and wolf packs attack them, they still close their eyes to the outside world. To them, you are no threat to their lifestyle or territories.” Again, several of the alpha’s growled. “But it is time for you to prove them wrong. I have chosen you all because none of your packs have ever come into conflict with each other”. Envy glared at Fury. “Yet” He barked softly. The tigress glanced at him severely, before continuing; “It is not unheard of for packs to unite. Alphapacks are what you call them, yes? Under one alpha, your packs could ravage the clans. Their lands are prey-rich and vast: many packs could survive there, and you could have your vengeance on the clans. I have walked the dark paths of this forest; I know the lands of the clans better than any other outsider does. With my guidance and your strength, the clans could stand no chance. What say you?” The alphas were silent. They were all deep in thought. Spite spoke up; “An Alphapack, as you said, needs only one Alpha-wolf. Are we to relinquish control of our packs to one amongst us?” He asked roughly. “Yes” answered the tigress bluntly. No angry protests followed this, which surprised her. All of the wolves seemed to be considering this. Spite stepped forward; “I have lead my pack for seasons, and warred with many others. Our survival has been because if my leadership. If I was to lead us, our vengeance would be swift and sure.” He barked proudly, sitting at full height. “I’m not giving command of my pack to a runt like you!” Snarled Fury. “They wouldn’t obey you even if I told them to! The Pack of Glorious Onslaught is reknowned across the forest for it’s success. If it weren’t for me, such tales wouldn’t be abound. I shall lead the Alphapack, and we shall drown the clans in their blood!” “And in the blood of our pack-mates!” Barked Dread scathingly. “The forest trembles in account of my deeds; if any was born to lead us to final victory against the clans, it is me!” “I have heard of your achievements,” growled Greed, “and I know that you would lead us into shadows and treachery. You are no leader, just a common killer with admirers you have follow you around. I have led the Pack of Moonless Nights for seasons, and killed all contestants. From one look at you all, I can tell that I am easily the best fighter here!” As the alphas snarled and yowled challenges and boasted of achievements, Malice raised from the ground and padded over to the boulder on which the tigress was still sitting, glaring furiously at the squabbling alphas. He leapt up to her side, and howled decisively. The alphas fell silent and turned to look at him. “There is no need for you to fight over who shall lead us” he stated silkily, “for he stands in front of you now.” “You?” snarled Greed. “Don’t make me laugh. Look at your pup-soft fur! Are you only just out of your nursery? You don’t even have any battle scars! I’ve torn dozens of wolves like you apart; arrogant pups with...” As Greed ranted, and the other alphas laughed crudely along with him, Malice bunched up the muscles in his hind leg and leapt. He didn’t leap directly at Greed; he landed next to his flank. Before the laughing alphas knew what had happened, Greed was howling in agony: “My eyes!” He wailed, “I can’t see!” As Greed flailed, the alphas saw what had happened; Malice had clawed at Greed’s eyes as he leapt past him. The wide-eyed wolves turned their gazes from the wounded alpha to Malice, who had slowly turned and padded back to Greed. As the defeated alpha called out piteously, he bowled him over with a powerful shoulder, and bit deep into his throat. The wails ended abruptly. Malice released his rivals corpse, and padded back to the boulder, pushing past the shocked alphas and taking his place by the tigress’s side again. She looked unaffected by what she had seen. “I believe that a leader has been decided” she meowed coldly. “I don’t believe I introduced myself at any point. I am Shadowtooth, and I shall show you the way to victory. We shall assault the clans next half-moon; gather your packs and bring them here. We shall share prey to make sure that we are battle-ready. We shall also send word to other packs; the time of vengeance is at hand!” Malice howled at the full moon, and the others joined in, their conviction strong. The clans would be destroyed, once and for all! |

This is well written and very descriptive. Thought it was about werewolves at first, read on and discovered otherwise. Dont know what this is all about but i can easily follow these events that have occured so far. Strange universe but its good. Loads of tension and unease, you got this sense there was a lot of animosity and bravado that could erupt into bloodshed and violence at any time. Do you intend to post more? |

Thanks a lot ![]() Well, unfortunately it was the short story I posted a month before that Alphapack attacked in the RP site, so that plotline is still running. I can't really write the rest as a story until it is finished, but I do intend to, as soon as that is. I think I'll just tell you what it's based on, since it's actually pretty hard to guess. The general concept is that of the Warrior series of books by Erin Hunter, which features clans of wildcats that feud with each other. So when I was trying to make up an RP site I got frustrated that all of the original ideas I had had already been used, so I decided to go further than anyone else and just make three clans of big cats lol. I think it's only fair to say, since only a die-hard Warrior fan could have guessed probably... |

Erin Hunter mmm? think i will give this person a crack, never read their stuff. From the little you have said it sounds good. I like reading things like this now and again. Im from UK so dont know where your from so this author might only be available in your country but will give it a go. Does the authors work fit into the teenage catagory or is it a more adult bracket? It doesnt matter either way, will just make my search easier. I know how you feel about ideas. You think you have come up with something unique until lo and behold some other bugger has gone an used it. Sometimes ive gotten worried when reading other people posts and ive seen themes and ideas similiar to mine except ive not posted them before hand so when i eventually do they might think ive copied/stolen their idea. I like to keep my cards close to my chest till im ready to show my hand. Fair play to you for posting this up. cool |

I'm from the UK too, but unfortunately the series isn't too popular over here. It's got a far wider audience in the USA despite the author being British. I bought the first one in a school book fair and went online to buy the sequel: the 2nd book had yet to come out in Britain but the 7th was just coming out in the USA lol. So I just order them all from Amazon.com. The series is broken down into arcs of 6, and I think the first arc is completely available in shops in the UK now, though. The book are sort of marketed towards early teens, but I'm 16 and I still enjoy the a lot. I guess it's a matter of taste, but I've never thought about giving up on them even though my reading level keeps getting higher. I'm trying to think if I have any other fan-fictions that wouldn't reveal dozens of spoilers for any potential readers lol. |

Heck. lol Im in my twenties now. Wont matter though, if your writing is half as good as the actual story then im confident that i will enjoy it. Kind of skipped reading teenage fiction when i was a kid, jumped right into the horror/ fantasy adult content from a young age. Got to say as well for a guy of 16 youve got a good grasp of how to write. Its not immature and has substance and you have paragraphed, sentenced things good as well, as good as any novel ive ever read. No joke. Maintain your standard, learn an improve on it always and continue with it. I write for myself as a hobby and for others to enjoy as well. Cheers |

Do you have pieces that you have writeen on DBZF that I could read? Actually, that's a redundant question, I'll just go look lol. |

Ok i have two peices on here so far. One that you have already read the HULK: Gamma Brawl about the super muscled/powered beings from the DC and MARVEL universes (ie Superman and Hulk etc) in a massive free-for-all, last-man-standing fight. The other is the piece i am currently working a DBZ fan fic, simply titled Retsof-Darr. Its a story that occurs before and during the events on of Z (namely the Saiyan saga) about a group of surviving Saiyans on an alien world. Looking forward to more stories from you. Be curious to know when you wrote them (age) to compare how much you have changed or bettered your style if at all. Think i might post in something i wrote when i was your age (16) its a DBZ inspired piece (in regards to the fighting and action with basic plot) if i can find it. Cool |

He stretched excessively, digging his claws into the ground and drawing back, feeling the skin on his back and belly tighten, and his fur rising along his spine in pleasure as his muscles rippled along his muscled flanks. “Quit showing off” teased Bloomsong as she padded past him, flicking her tail on his back. Fernclaw purred and regained his composure, and padded after her towards the fresh-kill pile. It was a beautiful morning; although the air was crisp, as the sun was still rising, the sparse trees surrounding the camp cast weak shadows across the clearing, like the stripes across a tigers pelt. Behind the trees, the sun rose slowly behind a thin layer of cloud on the horizon, creating a deep red sunrise. “Good morning, Fernclaw. Good morning, Bloomsong” mewed a gentle voice from the entrance to the Warrior’s den, to their right. “Good morning, Moonsky” replied Fernclaw cheerfully, dipping his head in greeting to the young warrior. “Beautiful morning, isn’t it?” remarked Bloomsong lightly. “I prefer the night,” meowed Moonsky, with a friendly flick of the tail. As a group, they turned to the fresh-kill pile, which had obviously been restocked by an early hunting patrol. “Is there any rabbit?” Moonsky asked, peering at the pile of carcasses. “No such luck, I’m afraid” mewed Fernclaw. He indicated towards a young sow amongst the pile. “Would you like to share that?” “Sure” mewed Bloomsong, and together they dragged the bulky piece of fresh kill to one end of the clearing, next to the Apprentice’s den. As the three tigers sat to eat their meal, Fernclaw saw Greystar, blinking the sleep from her eyes and hovering in the shade of the Stonehill, just outside of her den. She must have just woken up too. With a wave of his tail, he greeted her and she padded over to join them. “Good morning, Greystar” mewed Fernclaw, his greeting echoed by Bloomsong and Moonsky. “Indeed it is” Greystar purred. She sat down with a slouched movement, and shook her head when Bloomsong began moving over so she could join them in their meal. “I’m not hungry, thank you” she mewed kindly. Her gaze rose over the head of Bloomsong and turned more serious. The breeze brought the scent of Clawfang to Fernclaw, and he guessed that the tom looked worried as usual... “Greystar, the dawn patrol reported that the Leopardclan border was marked stronger than normal” stated the deputy, “although there was none of their stench on our side of the border.” “Hmm, strange” mewed Greystar, seemingly to herself. “However, we can’t count it as hostility, nor can we tell another clan what to do on their side of the border. Let’s just ignore it at the moment.” “Yes Greystar,” mewed Clawfang roughly, dipping his head. As Fernclaw watched, Hawkblaze emerged from the Warrior Den, followed by Rustleleaf and Half-Sight. The breeze picked up again, a fresh caress of air against Fernclaw’s pelt. “It’s a Half-moon tonight, isn’t it?” asked Moonsky meaningfully. “Yes, it is” meowed Fernclaw, immediately picturing the long journey to Highstones, his heart sinking. “Maybe we should prepare the travelling herbs as soon as we’ve finished” mewed Bloomsong, her tongue swiping around her blood-stained muzzle. “Sure” agreed Fernclaw, feeling pleased with his apprentices focus. He had had his reservations about taking on the young warrior as his apprentice, but he regretted that now; she was an excellent apprentice, and a very caring medicine cat. After eating his fill from the sow, Fernclaw rose to his paws. “Well, let’s go Bloomsong. We have a long night to prepare for…” ___________________________________________________________________________ Sandstar padded away from the nursery, having told Blackheart and the cubs of the impending ceremony. The morning was in its full glory, a red sunrise filing through the dense undergrowth. A cool breeze rustled in the trees, making a sound reminiscent to that of the ever-flowing river. A perfect day for this ceremony thought Sandstar with satisfaction. Sandstar clawed his away up the Great Oak, settling himself comfortably on a low, sturdy branch. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here under the Great Oak for a clan meeting!" he roared. Leopards emerged from their nests and from further out into the forest. As established beforehand, Swiftstep and Darkflight strode forward quickly to stand proudly under the Great Oak. The 3 cubs emerged from the nursery, flanked by Blackheart and Rainpelt. Willowcub, Ferncub and Shaggycub were all neatly groomed and sleek, and even though they were obviously trying they couldn't quite hide their excitement. As the cats he had chosen to be mentors settled underneath him, and the clan gathered around the waiting cubs, Sandstar began the ceremony: "It is time for me to perform one of my favourite duties as leader of Leopardclan", he began. "Willowcub, Ferncub and Shaggycub have all reached 2 moons old, and as dictated in the Warrior Code, they are old enough to begin their apprenticeships". He leapt down from his perch and strode forward to the first cub, Ferncub: the snow-coloured she-cat stared up at him with wide, green eyes as he began. "From this day forward, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice shall be known as Fernpaw." The newly made apprentice looked ready to burst with excitement, as Sandstar moved over to Shaggycub. "From this day forward, until he has earned his warrior name, this apprentice shall be known as Shaggypaw." As the young leopard shared an excited look with his sister, Sandstar moved over again towards the last cub. "From this day forward, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice shall be known as Willowpaw." The blaze of excitement and determination in her deep green eyes made Sandstar feel prouder than ever to be the leader of his clan. He stepped back: "Swiftstep, you have apprenticed many fine warriors: I hope that you will pass on your fighting skills and courage to Willowpaw." "Of course, Sandstar" purred Swiftsep as he stepped forwards to touch noses with his new apprentice. As the two of them padded to join the rest of their clan-mates, Sandstar continued: "Darkflight, you are a valued warrior for your clan, and were mentored well by Swiftstep. Pass on all of all of the skills you have learned and have been taught to Shaggypaw" "My pleasure" meowed the black-pelted warrior as he moved forwards to touch noses with the young snow leopard. As they too moved to the join the crowd, Sandstar turned to Fernpaw. "I swear by Starclan that I shall pass on all of my skills and experiences to this young she-cat, and it is my honour to again mentor the next generation of Leopardclan. He padded forward and touched noses with the young leopard, who looked awed to have been chosen by Sandstar as his apprentice. As Sandstar then padded side-by-side with his new apprentice to join the crowd, the clan began to chant the names of the new apprentices. "Willowpaw! Shaggypaw! Fernpaw!" Leopardclan would remain a force to be reckoned with for untold seasons. ___________________________________________________________________________ Stormwind prodded Reedtail in the flank again, sighing inwardly as the lion growled in his sleep rather than waking up. “Wake up, Reedtail” he murmured into the warrior’s ear, speaking softly so as not to awaken the other warriors. This late in Greenleaf, they could afford to sleep in a little longer. “B-boar!” cried Reedtail, startling Stormwind, who jumped back and stood on Stagheart’s tail. The lion yowled, waking up immediately, as did the rest of the warrior’s den… * * * After his disastrous attempt to waken he morning patrol quietly, Stormwind left the Warrior Den feeling less than appreciated, but nonetheless followed by Reedtail and Nightwish. “Ok, we’ve got to patrol the Tigerclan border, then cross the river at the falls and patrol the Leopardclan border” he mewed uncomfortably. “Yes, we know how to patrol the border, thanks” scorned Reedtail, who still looked a bit unnerved by whatever dreams he had been having. His comment stung Stormwind; he hadn’t been deputy long, only for three sunrises, but he still wasn’t used to giving orders to warriors that were older than him, even if only by a pawful of moons. “Don’t be so mean, Reedtail” chided Nightwish. She blinked kindly at the Lionclan deputy. “That’s fine, Stormwind” she meowed. He dipped his head in gratitude, and was away to turn towards the camp entrance when Sunspot’s emerged from the Nursery. Immediately, a tight knot of worry formed in Stormwind’s gut, and he padded quickly towards her, waving his tail at the warrior’s he would be leading on patrol for a few moments. “Good morning, Stormwind” calmly, having already guessed why he had come so quickly to see her. “Hey Sunspots” he began awkwardly. “Um, were you-“ “Rookcub had a thorn in his bedding, so I had to use a small poultice on that” she meowed reassuringly.. “Nothing has happened to Tallgrass, or the cubs.” Stormwind sighed with relief. The medicine cat dipped her head again, and padded towards her den. Stormwind longed to enter the nursery, and be with his family, but he had the patrol to lead. “Good morning, Stormwind,” came a deep voice behind the Lionclan deputy, who turned to see his leader padding towards him. He dipped his head in respect. “Good morning, Whitestar” he replied, wondering what the white-pelted lion wanted with him. The thought struck him that his leader may be wondering why the morning patrol hadn’t left yet. “I was… just checking with Sunspots that-“ “I know, don’t worry” mewed the muscular white lion. “I sent Stagheart in your place on the patrol” continued the leader, his voice Stormwind looked to where Reedtail and Nightwish had been standing; now an empty patch of well-trodden grass in the camp clearing. “Stagheart said he couldn’t sleep anyway. Something about an aching tail?” queried Whitestar innocently. “Th…thank you Whitestar” stammered Stormwind, his voice humble with gratitude. “I know how much it means to watch our cubs grow” mewed Whitestar. He continued as he padded into the Nursery, to see his own growing family; “But so you know, Stagheart also said he expects you to take his place on the evening patrol.” Stormwind snorted with amusement. Of course he did. No favours for those that tread on your tail, thought Stormwind as he padded into the nursery behind his leader to meet his family.
