Whats up guys, I would appreciate it you guys looked at this, it took me 2 weeks to make it, and like I say in the description, not because of the difficulty in making the piece, but because of finding out the symbols I want to put behind all of this, plus adjusting every details does add time too...
http://dfmike.deviantart.com/art/Another-Side-132188136
Warning:1100x1300, thats why I'm not showing it here.

And well, here's what I say in the descrption, yes, pretty damn long, but there were 2 weeks of thought put into this.

Quote:

Ok so here I am with something new, that seriously took me about 2 weeks to finish, not for the difficulty behind the graphic, but for the idea to come to me. This may just contain shiny stuff, but I can assure you its 100% symbolical. You can have your spin on it, but here's mine.
(If you're really looking at ths piece, I would like you to read whats below, but if you want to know more about how I made this piece, look even more down and you'll find out.)

~Symbolic Part~

First of all, you see the wolves, with a look of despair. Now if you look over them, you see something curved, one blue and one pink (representing male and female). If you put them closer together, they make a heart, not a perfect one since you wouldn't really see the bottom of the heart, but I didn't want it to be too obvious. The reason why they're not together, just like the wolves, is because of the planet squishing those wolves to death. This is obviously showing their seperation caused by so many problems in the world, either it be natural (for example death caused by pollution) or political. Speaking about political, look closely into both waterfalls please, top to bottom too, you'll notice a dollar bill, causing the squished wolves to drown in their money and tears, and I dont think I have to explain the money part, if you want to be sure to understand why I put money there, just think that, I could of put humans instead of wolves there.
Oh and why wolves? First of all the look of the wolf picture interested me, it fit well with my idea, second of all, if I put humans, it wouldn't be symbolical, and third of all, they're wild and savage, getting killed by their own planet, does that remind you of any of the species in this world? Look in the mirror...
Going down to the colors of the waterfall, this is easier to understand, why isn't it the same as the color of the curved shape on top, simply because the tears reflect the pain of not being the other anymore. So the blue one will cry pink, since the tears are caused by the female, and vice versa.
As for the gate, I think its obvious to say, that once we're in this world, we're stuck here. You'll notice the celestial look at the bottom, this makes you think everything is nice, but "Another Side", shows our side of what life is. People will tend to look at the whats nice, but if you look further, into the depth of things, behind the gate you'll see that we're actually trapped in our own problems, simply because we caused them. So make sure you don't just stare and the celestial part (heaven) and litteraly look further, no one is in heaven, but our whole planet is on the other side of the gate.
"The Illusions behind the Truth"...I kind of just explained it.
Thanks to my bro for helping me out with that quote.
Now to make sure you understand it, let's flip it and change it up a little> "The Truth causes Illusions".

~How I made this~
I made everything in here, except for the wolves, some abstract and gate brushes(credits below) and I had a little help with a waterfall picture.
Celestial part was made in terragan (the terrain) and edited in photoshop for the mood, colors, and lights.
Planet and the rest was made in Photoshop CS.

Thanks to Declan11 for the Waterfall picture:[link]
Wolf:[link]
Thanks to a great friend for the abstract brushes:[link]
And well thanks to E-Stock for the gate brush:[link]

Inspired by Tool and A Perfect Circle, especially the vocalist of both bands, Maynard James Keenan.

There you have it!
Thanks for viewing!

I'd love to give you some sort of 2 page feedback on this but I'm in awe with this and the idea behind it. It's so hard to see something so beautiful and majestic being described with such tragic and painful feelings. The description was perfect to go along with this. It's more then just a great piece of work to me. I love the obvious symbolism in every bit from the subject of wolves and beings to the colors and brushes to the big picture/idea overall. I find it hard to just say Good Work and be done. I've looked at the piece over and over, it's almost stunning to say the least.

I looked at the basic pictures you started by scratch and the development that it grew into is mind-blowing. This is The Greatest Piece I can remember from you. I think it's your best ever and it deserves to be remembered.

GW, man I can't think of a proper phrase that would satisfy the astonishing piece. It's really impressive man, don't lose this gift of yours.

Thanks bro :)
This did seem like it took me forever to finish. I was always drawn back to it, already that there's like 100 layers, I got rid of 50, so I was constantly thinking of what to do here hehe
I would love to think its a gift, like that everything can be easy lol, but man, this is just the result of never stopping, and well, thinking constantly and going crazy :P

I also think this is my best yet, so hopefully I'll be able to look at this sometimes and be inspired by myself a little :P
thanks man!

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

This is brilliant man, just brilliant. You can tell that so much time, care and effort has been put into this and it has really payed off. I love the symbolism and meaning that you used throughout the whole image, it's a great testimony to how our society is today. I'm glad that I read the description because it pointed out a lot of things that I would have missed if I had just glanced at the picture. The 'drowning in money' statement is a powerful one.

I think that the use of the Wolf is also very important to the image. A powerful, aggressive creature that lives both alone and in packs (very similar to humans). The blue colour that takes over most of the image also has a moonlight feel to it, which gives the Wolves the effect of howling with despair into the moon, which is powerful.

The piece is brilliant, it has no flaws (I'm not a graphic expert, but it loosk perfect) and like Brit said; you are very talented.

An optimist is someone who falls off the Empire State Building, and after 50 floors says, 'So far so good!'
If you can't see the bright side of life, polish the dull side.
If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

I'm happy to see how people understand the meaning behind all of this, it did after all take me time to put symbolism instead of just making it beautiful.

This piece looks astonishingly stunning... it's far more than just a beautiful graphic, it tells me a story.
I go beyond the act of seeing and appreciating one piece of art with this, I feel like I have to "read" it. I love how much meaning and feeling you put into it, it's like all the different elements are speaking to me.
And, of course, visually, the magical and bright look totally makes me want to stare at it for a long time.

I admire you so much. Not just because you're clearly talented, but because you're not afraid of using your sensitivity to explore the thoughts in your head and materialize them into art. That to me is a reflection of maturity.

I love you.

I'm happy you saw the difference between the WIP I showed you and the final result, and knowing you read the description of the piece is very appreciated. I love you more :=]:
