:'( :'( Spain lost to USA today in the confederations cup. I felt Spain totally dominated the game with possession and shots. So what happened to them today? Why didn't they win? They couldn't put it in the freakin net gosh. There 35 game win streak was put to an end.

Tim Howard is a beastly Keeper and USA final had some coordinating shots that paid off unlike the not so lucky Spain. Maybe the conditions were easily adaptable by US also. Either way that's the game in almost any sport now a day. It's unexpected, even the best bigger faster, better looking team can be dominate but it's the scoreboard that shows you who won the game. It's sad for Spain but a very good time to celebrate and prepare for Team USA

There's only one answer really: that's football. It happens. Not always the best team or the most deserving team wins. I didn't see the match but I heard that Spain had 29 attempts, so Tim Howard must have been on hot form (which from the few highlights on Sky Sports News I saw is true). I don't like the USA team though, they're so dirty. They've had about 4 red cards and every match I've seen highlights of in the Confederation Cup they've been fouling left, right and centre.

It was an unlucky game. Spain had a LOT of chances to score, but none went in. Even a couple chances with Torres in front of the goal that he managed to slip up. :o_O: Howard did make some great saves though props to him for that. One in particular was a beam from Fabregas that I thought was sure to be in. Although Spain did dominate the game, USA took advantage of mistakes for those two goal. The first one came from some weak defending. I really feel they could have stopped that. Heck, take a yellow card all they had to do was shove Altidore over, they weer already shoulder to shoulder. The second goal was a mistake by Ramos who trapped the ball and looked up the field..

..and whattaya know! Dempsey was right behind him to take the ball and knock it in. :|

Credit to USA for taking advantage and beating the best team in the world. However, talks after the game shown Bradley saying that "the key" to stopping spains attack was shutting out Xavi...

..for a team that got shot against over 30 times I don't think they should be talking about shutting out any attacks LOL

@Mitas They play dirty at times because they had to. Also they had 3 red cards, which shows that at least they don't get away with all their dirty tactics.. unlike another team that was already knocked out of the Confederations Cup.. won't mention any names.. Italy. :D

They have to foul because that is there only way of being somewhat matched up with their opponent. Well I am cheering for them against Brazil. I don't want to see Brazil win again lol. As for Spain, I hope they beat South Africa so they can get 3rd place. They will probably be mad after losing to US. I mean they had a lot of chances like HustLa said. I'm going to make a new topic about Spain because I want clear cut answers.

The USA defenders defended, the attack took full scale of their shooting oppurtunities, they were the better team on the field. The defenders were tenacious against a very early and very vicious spanish attack, meanwhile Howard was a spider in nets. Spain took 9 shots, 6 on net. USA had taken 2 shots on net by the time the score was 2-0 and added another 2 wide of the net later on. Deep from the roots Spain's ruin is because.

-US players played organized soccer
-Howard plus his defenders kept the ball at bay
-US players pushed away every other potential peice of Spanish momemtum
-The USA wanted the win more than Spain

USA were the better team.
With this lift of mometum they will be facing the team that exorsized the demons in South Africa; a team that got outplayed at their own game and needed a last minute goal to defeat the Republic of South Africa; Brazil. Two intense semifinals were played, an even better final will be followed, and we'll be in for a treat in 2010 when all these teams play for what matters most. The World Cup.

My prediction for the final: USA wins 2-1 and brings home their first organized FIFA title.
