Tyson VS Bruce Lee

"Yeah but Bruce Lee isn't just about anything."

You SAID he knew tons of different martial arts, and he does. What the, hell..?

"Ok, so stop assuming Tyson is going to land the first kill shot"

The -first- kill shot? Haha.

"And it's just how hard and fast he punches, but this ain't a boxing match is it!?"

Yeah, how fast and hard he punches doesn't matter in a street fight. I seriously hope you're joking.

"Maybe if Mike Tyson fights me in a street fight he might win"

Maybe.

"Maybe I might win?"

What the..!? Are you daft!?

"Easily breaking through the weak barriers of Tyson's unskilled and vulnerable lower body"

Talk about an underestimation. People who don't know what they're talking about, they tend to do that from time to time.

"Not once did I mention Mike's tummy."

You said "lower body." I figured that's what you meant. Bruce Lee isn't going to be strong enough to use submissions on Tyson. Tyson isn't going to let Lee near him, and even if he does get close, that super punch may be waiting. Tyson was an inside boxer, you know.

"on the streets all he's gotta do is eye gauge Tyson, and with his skilled foot work and shifting, a straight knee into the groin"

You really are beginning to doubt Bruce Lee, aren't you? Talk about desperate tactics.

After reading back up on all of these things you've said, I'm sure we can all agree. "Pure Genius," as you say.

See, again putting words in my mouth. Now you just think I said something else.

Again, did I say that?

Good one.

*sarcasm; because in order to submit an opponent, one has to lift someone off the ground with 110% of all his strength.

The super punch? lmao now it's called the super punch!?

Once again you put words in my post. Please don't make this personal, so what if Bruce Lee would make Mike Tyson roll over in a street fight, what does that change in your life.

It's funny because you keep mentioning a super punch and super speed and super strength, yet disregard the fact that Mike Tyson has zero, and I mean absolutley no ground game. His legs' only strong point is a straightforward balance, and all it takes is a long shot to the knees and he's on his head.

i probably know more about Iron Mike than you, heck the guy's from Brooklyn! He was popular throughout the 80's and 90's and showcased all of his strength, and speed. And he has beaten up people in street fights as well, but they were unskilled and all. Although Bruce Lee isn't just 'anything' he is 'something'

Did I not post Lee's arsenal, that's if I posted it all because as you admited he was skilled in more than a dozen domains of combat, many of which would be either illegal in a boxing match. Therefore in the streets it would be a landslide victory for Bruce Lee. I assume in a street fight, Tyson would not even be wearing gloves. Therefore he would only loose that straight right hand if he's lucky.

"putting words in my mouth"

Then you must just have a horrible time expressing yourself, because from what I can see, there is no question in my mind that you've said the things you're claiming you didn't say.

"Again, did I say that?"

Yeah. Yep.

"Good one."

That's what I'm all about.

"*sarcasm; because in order to submit an opponent, one has to lift someone off the ground with 110% of all his strength."

An anorexic 14 year old girl that knows every form of MMA possible isn't going to take me, an inexperienced pedestrian, down to the ground. Let me guess, you're actually stupid enough to disagree?...

"The super punch? lmao now it's called the super punch!?"

It is official. Yes. The punch that causes certain death to Bruce Lee's poor soul will be titled, "The Super Punch." You are an innovator. An idealist.

"Please don't make this personal"

What...? Uh, okay.

"It's funny because you keep mentioning a super punch and super speed and super strength, yet disregard the fact that Mike Tyson has zero, and I mean absolutley no ground game."

'Ground game' doesn't even matter if it isn't present in the fight. Like I said.. One, The Super Punch, and it's all done.

"all it takes is a long shot to the knees"

All it takes is one punch to Bruce's head.

"Bruce Lee isn't just 'anything' he is 'something'"

By "anything," I was referring to any style. So, "quit putting words in my mouth."

To whoever said neither of us know how to fight exactly meanwhile both Tyson and Lee know hot fight not to mention Lee has a lot of experience he has trained in numerous martial arts. My point is that weight does not matter. Can't use the 70lbs more as an advantage for Tyson cause that's just not true at all.

Because anorexia is a disiese. If Bruce Lee had a disiese he'd be on the injured reserve list , and wouldn't be able to fight in the first place. An anorexic girl wouldn't even have the capacity in her deteriorated insides to even lift her finger let alone learn or use the martial arts!
The only irony I see is you comparing Bruce Lee to an anorexic girl.

Hello Zero it was me who said that. :)

I know what your trying to say but when your as good as these guys and are going out to fight to kill it is a different ball game when added weight is involved as they know how to get the most out of their bodies.

In boxing ive sparred guys (i know its only sparring before you people cry) who are terrible but are bigger and once they land that solid punch its pretty hard to come back from that. In saying that im durable and can absorb a lot and can avoid the worst of the damage. Lee would be roughly the same however he would fight differently from me and would not be fighting an average Joe big man.
And in this case Tyson isnt some slow heavyweight boxer as he has extremes of speed and power and the killer instinct to destroy someone.

However there is ways for Lee to win using his size to overcome the extremes of Tysons but it could be difficult.
Ive seen fights whereby a submission was used to overcome a far superior striker (Lee is a great striker too im just saying this as an example). It looks so simple and the striker can be overcome because he doesnt know what to do and simply makes it worse when he fights against it. Its like watching a child against a man.

Tyson is human like anyone else so he is going to have a groundgame of somesort, cause he is going to still fight, just that it wont be all that great.

Not too sure how someone of Tysons size would fair on the ground against a smaller man like Lee. By this i mean i dont know if Lee would be able to hold the guy down.
Mind you im not sure how good Lee is at hurting people on the ground. I wouldnt imagine either fighter would be too comfortable on the ground as both are primarily strikers.

Yeah thats right.
he was good with things like Judo but could he fight with known mma style of ground fighting?
trying to remember, i think its called brazilian ju-jitsu (sp?) which is used as a form of ground fighting which was adapted from a form used in Japan i think.
So i guess yeah Lee must have studied this technique (dont know if he had) to make himself into a well rounded fighter.

Would like to see this style of fight between extremes of two fighters in terms of size though, someone who is as big and half as deadly as Tyson versus someone with jui-jitsu and some decent striking ability and is as small as Lee. Mmmm?

I don't think Brazilian Jiu Jitsu existed as far back as the 1960's or 1970's, unless it didn't hit the mainstream. Although two landmarks of Bruce Lee's career are Judo and Jiu-Jitsu. And there was another form of wrestling that he established, but I forgot what it was called.

The anorexic girl reference clearly went clean over that more than logical head of yours.

"Do you even know what ground game is?"

Of course not. How could that be relevant in a martial arts debate? Yes, I know what it is. Bruce Lee isn't going to mount Mike Tyson. He isn't strong enough. I gave you reason as to why Bruce Lee couldn't slam Tyson.

"All it takes is one punch to Bruce Lee's head, but Mike Tyson would loose that hand."

You don't watch MMA. If that were even possible, obviously it would be used by the greatest fighters in the entire world.

"Bruce Lee would feed Iron Mike to the streets of Brooklyn."

In that case, the streets of Brooklyn are hungry for a victor.

in order to pin someone, you don't have to physically mount them off the ground.

MMA fighters wear gloves don't they?

MMA fighters wear open handed gloves that are only 4 ounces (or less not 100%). They are practically hitting bareknuckle though.
Dont see what you mean when you say Tyson would lose his right hand? Do you mean by some sort of grapple or hold?

Ive seen fighters literally jump on another mans back and choke him from behind or even get his arm in an armlock in mid-air. Still Tyson is much bigger and it wouldnt be as hard for him to shift Lee or just slam him hard off a deck or wall.

the reasson they use gloves in combat sport; if a bare knuckle comes into contact with an elbow, those bare knuckles are gone. Even Mike Tyson's large knuckles are no match for the extra conditioned elbows of Bruce Lee.

^ That actually made me laugh.

BattleMetal: Yes, in the UFC and other similar programs, 4 ounce gelatin gloves are used.

Ok i see what you mean. Nah man i dont think Lee would be able to do that to Tyson, never heard of anyone doing that.

Im Trying to picture this in my head. Tyson would blast Lee, Lee defending/attacking this punch using the corner of his elbow (i punched my own elbow point to see how it felt- Owee). I can punch a brick wall that is flat really hard with no pain but try hitting the corner of a wall and you break your hand. Ow- i didnt try this so dont worry :p

It might work, very unorthodox manner of fighting but i dont think it would be strategy Lee could use realistically against Tyson.
Man i would love to see a man do this in an mma fight, how random and cool would that be?! :)

The timing needed would have to be perfect and Lee risks getting badly hurt (broken arm, shattered ribs), he could maybe hurt Tyson with this manourvere but i dont see it.
