Tyson VS Bruce Lee

Bruce Lee would mop the floor with Mike Tyson, unless he decided to bite Bruce's ear off by dirty fighting techniques. Come on right now? Who argues about whether Tyson who is washed up and old, would be able to beat Bruce Lee, who is dead, but if alive would lay the smack down on Tyson? Does it really matter?

Okay so some people say that size matters. In some aspects, size does matter, but it shouldn't be the only thing that determines a fight. My sensei knows ways to hurt someone that is much bigger than he is. There are points on the body that are weak in every human being regardless of size. For example, I'm learning some throws in martial arts, and guys are much bigger than me. However, with the right technique, I can still throw them. Why does this concern the fight? Well Bruce Lee had strength and speed as well as technique. Just look at him performing a one inch punch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jeg_5bba6-M

He made the guy skid back into the chair. Imagine if he had punched someone full force. He'd probably break bones in someone's body or do more damage. I don't see how Tyson could stand up to someone that had every thing going for him. All Tyson will do is bite someone's ear off like he did against that one guy. Bruce Lee didn't have to fight dirty that way. He has skill and that's what truly matters.

Angelica is right. Size matters at times but not always. And Bruce Lee was an amazing fighter both in skills and speed. It doesn't matter how big Tyson is, Bruce Lee would have made him cry. Why do people know Bruce Lee as one of the greatest fighters that ever lived?

The only problem i see with that video you posted is that bruce used his legs to add to his punching force. If he can't use his legs to add power that could cause him problems but if Tyson gets hit by that in the right spot (and bruce should know where to hit him) he could win.

So does that mean that a 500 lb guy can beat tyson, because he has more weight on him? No, because weight doesn't always matter if you know how to fight and defend against most fighters, like lee did.
Once again, spoken as if Lee has so much more than Tyson does.

"When you were 10, did you ever have the balls to fight against an adult, probibly not."
-
Because adults are bigger than children. That's why they don't have the balls.

"if you know how to fight and defend against most fighters, like lee did."
-
But of course, Tyson doesn't have anything at all planned for Lee.

"Who argues about whether Tyson who is washed up and old"
-
I said, "in his prime." Read, bigot.

"In some aspects, size does matter, but it shouldn't be the only thing that determines a fight."
-
Nobody said it was. We're not talking about Bruce Lee VS a 210 lb average man, we're talking about Bruce Lee VS 210 lbs of Iron Mike Tyson in his PRIME.

"There are points on the body that are weak in every human being regardless of size."
-
To assume that only a martial artist of Bruce Lee's knowledge is aware of this, well, apparently you know nothing about the science of boxing. With knowledge of both sides, and a former MMA fanatic, I feel like the only educated person in this debate...

"All Tyson will do is bite someone's ear off like he did against that one guy. Bruce Lee didn't have to fight dirty that way. He has skill and that's what truly matters."
-
What you're trying to say is, he had morale. Mike Tyson was just an embarrassment to boxing, especially in regard to the fact that he was absolutely unstoppable. For the record though, when he bit Avander Holyfield's ear off, that was FAR past his prime. 10 years or so.

"Angelica"
-
lol

"And Bruce Lee was an amazing fighter both in skills and speed."
-
Mike Tyson surely wasn't.

"It doesn't matter how big Tyson is"
-
As much as you all like to say that size doesn't matter, you CAN'T change the fact that Mike punched with over 1800 lbs of force. No matter how much you try. Once again, he punches with enough power to crack skull and rearrange vertebra, and once again, his size is a huge contribution to this. HIS SIZE IS ONE OF THE REASONS HE PUNCHES SO HARD. Size matters. The bigger they are, the harder they brawl.

"Why do people know Bruce Lee as one of the greatest fighters that ever lived?"
-
Why do people believe in bogus religions?

You keep saying how powerful tyson is, but look at lee's 1in punch. he barley even moves, and sends a guy back a couple feet, imagine what he would do to a guy if he actually gave it his full power, and actually swung or kicked. That would easily break bones. And again, you must only read like half of my post, because in every post i say that lee is a master of his game, and so is TYSON. But tyson has boxing, lee has boxing, and many many more fighting styles. He even created his own style called Jeet Kune Do. He created this, because every style has its flaws, so he created this style, so when one flaw is exposed, you go to another style that thrives on the others flaw, that way he is always able to counter. Tyson goes in and swings, that is his flaw. Lee doesn't do that. in pretty much all of his known fights, he kept away from the person, until they got angered because they couldn't get him. and when they were mad, thats when he would strike. He would rush in and usually take there legs out, then hit them til it was over. Tyson is no doubt a brute, but strength isn't everything in a fight, and yes, he is also fast, but no where near as fast as lee was. He was able to hit someone 3 ft away, with his hands by his side, within 500th of a second, and that is a recorded fact.

"within 500th of a second, and that is a recorded fact."

So is the Bible, from what I hear.

-and yeah, I -DO- strongly believe that the weight difference is a colossus of a difference indeed. You're taking two that were the best at what they did, you're matching them up, and then giving one a gigantic 70 lb advantage. You speak like it doesn't even matter, when in-fact, it's almost the entire reason this is a dead giveaway.

Oh, and I'd like to quote a friend of mine since I found what he said amusing.

"Tyson in his prime? Well, Tyson in his prime would kill him. The old washed up Tyson would leave him in the hospital for weeks."

This guy really knows what he's talking about too. He's heavily into MMA and other sports like I am.

Hm.. I was quick to say Bruce Lee because of what I DO know about him, but I have to admitt only a few videos I've seen were actually him and not from a movie. There are also a lot of documentaries and things like that from what other people say about him, but I didn't see it for myself. Tyson in his prime may have been an excellent fighter, but I don't know of his background and experience in different types of martials arts. Maybe mor einfo would help the decision. It also depends what type of fight it is. Any rules or regulations or just a straight up fight?

You mention Tyson takes harsh punches to the face during his boxing and that shows much for his endurance. However, if the match had no rules I'm sure the fight could go either way depending on environment and situations. Physically and mentally, one can train themselves to withstand punches, but what about other forms of attack such as elbows and knees? Things that are banned from sports in general. It doesn't matter how hard you have trained or your size. Humans, even smaller humans, with skilled movement can dish out 200lbs+ of force to a concentrated area. Say if it were your skull, unless you're wearing a helmet it will cause some serious damage.. even to Mike Tyson in his prime. Also consider eye gouging, groin shots, spitting to the face, weapons usage. Without rules and regulations it could go either way.

I stated earlier that this was under professional Mixed Martial Arts regulations. No groin attacking, no knees, no eye gauging, and of course, no biting. ;)

Elbows would be no more effective against Tyson. Haven't you heard? Boxers are as much resistant to cuts as they are the punches that cause them. A sharp elbow isn't going to make a difference. The pain tolerance of boxers is truly inhuman. They're numb machines of endurance. They feel almost no pain at all. When a boxer collapses, it is not because of the pain he feels, it is because his body is shutting down on him. Boxing is the ultimate endurance sport, in all ways possible. And to be the best at -Pro- boxing? Well, good lord. The endurance there is mind numbing. Mike Tyson, let's just say he has pretty good endurance to go along with that neck snapping power.

Oh, and to quickly counter any "well Lee has great tolerance too," comments, uh, you're kind of missing the point. Pain tolerance doesn't even matter if you're suffering from a concussion and can't see (while it's quickly worsening to unconsciousness, and then soon after, brain damage, and if it continues even -more-, he's actually going to DIE).

Thus far, here is my summary.

Lee has "power."
Lee has faster speed.
Lee is smarter.
Lee is more diverse.

Tyson has a world class heavyweight boxer's endurance.
Tyson has a world class heavyweight boxer's power.

Adding this all up, Lee's speed doesn't even matter if it isn't effective. The so called "power" of Lee is going to be useless against Tyson's body and jaw of steel. With or without speed, there's just not going to be enough damage dealt at all. On the other hand... Tsk tsk. Poor fella.

Well considering it does have rules and regulations I'm going to have to say you're probably right. However you failed to see my point about other attacks. His pain tolerance and endurance may be high, but every human is vulnerable to hard shots to the top of the head. Which is why it is illegal in most martial arts competition.

His pain tolerance doesn't even matter. I said it before. A 210 lb Mike Tyson with a world class heavyweight chin isn't even going to feel what a 130 lb Super featherweight has to offer. Top of the head or not. Oh, and the worst part, is that they're not even wearing gloves. Woo, dang. That gives me shivers.

I think your going to far. I think if lee got a good hit to the head on Tyson that will definatly cause some damage, especially if done repeatedly.

I think YOU are going too far with your uneducated bigotry. I know this game, and I know how this ends. There are no 'good hit's.

This is really dumb. Bruce Lee vs Mike Tyson... in a boxing match? Obviously Mike would win.

An anything goes fight!? I think you would have to be pretty daft to not think that Bruce Lee would win. How well do you think Mike would react to getting his legs kicked out from under him and 130 pounds of asian powerhouse on his chest? Not to mention he doesn't really have much of a chin.
