I know there's a favourite comic book series thread, but this is just seeing if there are any comic book fans on the forum? I've started reading a lot lately. I've just finished the Marvel Civil War stuff which was really good. I've downloaded a lot of Green Lantern stuff as he's my favourite superhero. I think the comics are well-written and drawn and the actual concept is great too. So this is basically seeing if there are any comic book fans, and if there are any major fans then I guess this is the place where you can talk about them. But I don't think there are many on here. |

Hello, heres a fan right here been into comics and things of that nature since i was a kid. Although im not altogether into your Marvel/ DC stuff so to speak but i will read them and i do enjoy them. Read a couple of Hulks World War series in graphic novel form, good bruising emotional stuff with artwork that explodes off the page. Love the Death of Superman series when big blue faces off against the unstoppable behemoth that is Doomsday. Im more into your off the wall kind of comics, well not really comic books more like graphic novels, hardcore novels that having ripping artwork and unusually creepy storylines. Things like The Glimmer Rats (200AD), Frank Millars Sin City, 'The Hard Goodbye' with Marv being my favourite. A random story about a an invincible long living white haired anti-hero called Brit (really funny and brutal to read, guy cant be hurt at all, like nothing can what so ever can hurt him but hes only as strong as any other man, fighting alien armadas, 50foot tall ice giants and things like that). Or horror novels like 30 Days of Night and things of that nature. So im quite an eclectic person when it comes to comics, mostly into your action, horror kind of stuff but it can come from any writer/ artist. |

I read some occasionally. The only ones I've ever kept up with were the batman, batman and robin, and the new xmen series. I read most of the Amazing Spider-man and that Civil War series Mitas mentioned. My neighbor had this awesome collection dating back to the 1960s to 80's. I had to be real careful though they were rly worth something. Other then that I'm not saying I'm not a fan but i don't go around buying and keeping them. Just reading |

I used to read Archie comics to pass the time when I was little. Sometimes I have an Archie comic lying around my bathroom and read it in the morning. They're not bad stories either btw! |

I've just finished the Emerald Dawn Green Lantern story arc which is really good. Despite it being written in 89/90, I enjoyed it a lot and thought it was written and illustrated really well. I'll get on to the 2nd par of Emerald Dawn and the other arcs I have on my computer when it's working again lol |

Hey i briefly read a Green Lantern graphic novel and it occurs after Superman Returns (when Superman is briefly replaced by four other 'pretender' supermen and he comes back to life). When Mongul and the Cyborg annihilates Hal Jordans (Green Lantern) home city (cant remember what its called). Well Hal goes rogue i think and starts hunting down other Lanterns rings to take their power. In it he beats them all, i think he even takes on the small blue men the creators of the rings (i think). He does this so that he can have the power to recreate the city, to bring back all of the people that died, he wants the power to restart the universe. He becomes a new godlike being called Parrallax (something like that). Have you read this, the battles are well done as Hal fights his way through the Lantern Corps ranks. Since your a fan of Green Lantern, Mitas. |

What did you think of civil war mitas. I thought they did a great job on it, it was written out beautifully, and the art was great to. I read house of M, which is x men, but it has all of the marvel characters in it pretty much, it was decent, but not as good. It was a little to big also. It is like 5 times bigger than civil war. I use to read a lot of comics, but not so much now. I mostly read the graphic novels they do. they always end up getting messed up somehow if i get a bunch of comics. |

I love Street fighter 2 turbo, it's one of the best animated series of I've ever seen, but as far as more known comic books, I think I like The Hulk issues going around lately, multi universe versions and all, and I think Batman and Green Lanturn have always been up there for me, but I don't really sit down and read em like most comic book people, I usually just go to the comic store and glance through them to get a feel of whats going on. I don't want to start buying and collecting them, I'll get way to absorbed with it if I make it a hobey. |

Hey guess what I just remebered! Archie Comics made a Sonic The Hedgehog series for comics. I used to read them, whenever I'd find them. Just for the fact that they included Sonic. I'm sure if I read them now they wouldn't be special, but hey! That was my childhood in a jar! I also remember picking up a couple of Super Mario comics. If I ever get a chance to remeber the name, or find them on eBay, I recomend them for you. |

BattleMetal - I know the one you're talking about, I think the story arc is called Emerald Twilight but I'm not sure, and I've read a little bit of it but not much. It's the one I'm leading up to after I've finished Emerald Dawn II. And yeah it is Parallax. Trickster - Yeah Civil War was brilliant. Definately my favourite comic storyline so far. The artwork is amazing and I like the fact that it is done across all the Marvel characters personal comics, so you get to experience all the different styles. I want to read some X Men stuff because I got told House of M was pretty good but never got round to it. |

Mitas- Thats what is called Emerald Twilight :). Theres a great bit in this massive series that warred across the DC comics universe called Infinity Crisis (i think). The universes and all the different timeplines are being destroyed one by one at an alarming rate supposedly by a superbeing called The Extent. All the heroes have gathered and Superman is kod in one punch by a green glowing fist. Next panel shows Hal Jordan boasting that he is now Parallax standing over a downed, groggy Superman, some character in the background comments 'No way, Supes is down in one punch!'. This is a great moment. Theres a brief flashback when Hal explains how he obtained so much power, images of him battle wounded and bleeding fighting to the deah against other Corps members attaining their power rings. Great series. |

House of M was decent, but they put way to much in it for me. It is seriously like a book. it is a little taller, and a little wider than civil war, but i would say it is around 200 pages give or take. It takes a while to get through it. The overall story of it was ok, but i didn't find it as pleasing as civil war was. |

I've read a few comics, like V For Vendetta, and I like Batman and X-Men. I generally try to read the deeper stuff, Like Maus (if anyone's heard about it?) and Persepolis. But the Batman No Man's Land arc was awesome. |
Can't be bothered changing the Alex one. Here's the Bioshock one again instead.

I've been reading a comic series called Y:The Last Man which is brilliant. It's basically about a virus/disease/thing that kills out all the men on Earth, leaving the women to fend for themselves. Yorick is the last man on Earth and it follows his journey. It's brilliantly written, has a great storyline with brilliant sub-plots and is quite insightful to the whole 'Men rule the world and women play second fiddle' debate. |
