btw, i have skipped around a lot in the series, so i dont know a lot of the villins. and i know that it would be really easy for goku to defeat frieza by the buu saga, but he is the second strongest villien i know. i put vegeta below frieza and kid buu because he wasn't able to defeat eaither of them. weather he could do it now or not, i dont have a clue.

In the anime when Kid Buu forms and Kibito Kai is telling the story of how he came to be to Old Kai. Old Kai says something along the lines "So the absorptions weaken him" I'm not sure if that's mentioned in the manga but it clearly is in the anime and he is the strongest buu bar done.
This is what's said in the manga:

Chapter: 508 (DBZ 314), P4.2-7
Kaioshin: “In m…my era there were five Kaioshins…until they were defeated by the Majin Boo that the wizard Babidi created…I was the youngest and most powerless one, but I somehow survived, with only heavy injuries…But the other four fell to Boo…First, two were killed…the North Kaioshin and the West Kaioshin….And then the South Kaioshin, the burliest and strongest one, was…somehow absorbed by Boo….. “
Elder Kaioshin: …And he became that huge Boo from before? “
Kaioshin: “…Yes…Next to be absorbed was the fat but kind and gentle Dai-Kaioshin….The Majin Boo that Bibidi created was evil itself, a failed creation that even Bibidi himself couldn’t handle, but by absorbing the Dai-Kaioshin, he somehow become controllable…. “
Elder Kaioshin: “…So he was finally complete…Which is to say…that this current…small Majin Boo…is the initial…mo…most troublesome one…”
Kaioshin: “….Yes…the heart which he gained by going so far as to lower his power through absorption(s)…has returned once again to the way it was…he has no self-control whatsoever…he has become evil itself…”

In Boo's own daizenshuu entry, it's stated that only Dai Kaioshin weakened him. While it's not specified what South Kaioshin did in that entry, it can inferred that he strengthened him since we know Buff Boo is stronger than Super Boo.

In the anime, I'm fairly certain Kibitoshin states both Kais weakened Boo.
You can say whatever you would like about the English Series but I am not one of those people just sitting around reading comic books. The manga says Gohan is stronger but the series clearly refers to Goku as being the superior. You have to take the entire tv series into account if you take any of it into account. But if you follow the manga you are talking about a totally different arrangement and thought process. But if you follow the English series on tv then Goku is the superior and you must take DBGT into accoount because all rights and claims were handed over to create the new series. Like it or not, the series exists and more people follow the tv show rather than read a manga. And for those of you who keep refering to Akira Toriyama as there best friend stop it. You have never met Akira so you do not know every single little thing Toriyama is thinking. Yes, he thinks Gohan is stronger in the manga but it is impossible to argue the facts in the English series.

 I have maybe replied already.

No fusions or absorptions-
Gohan.

Potential-
either Gohan, Broly, Goten, or Cell. Probably not Goten though. Also Majin Buu.

Fusions/Absorptions allowed-
Vegito is the strongest ever in the dbz universe going by what has been seen in the series.

Also I just realised the topic title says no movies.

edit: oh yeah this is the topic about Freeza having the greatest potential power

Key words: English series. ;) Your logic is the same as the western world's logic on swastikas. "OH, LORD, THE NAZIS USED IT SO IT MUST BE THE WORST SYMBOL IN THE WORLD." That's most of the western world, so it must be true, right? Even though in reality, the symbol isn't bad, it's the people using it. That logic is fallacious.

When you've seen the original Japanese version, come back and see if you have the same opinion, man.

Highly improbable If you recalculate the badass levels you'd figure out that the Farmer is the strongest.
