Bardock: The Father of Goku (1990)
The History of Trunks (1993)
A Hero's Legacy (1997)
Plan to Destroy the Saiyajins

Where would you fit those into the time line if you had too?

All the dbz movies have places in the time line that make sense to watch them, so I'm not looking for exact placement, just roughly where you would recommend watching them to someone watching the entire DB/Z/GT including movies start to finish.

I'm already done with DB, the DB movies, and DBZ movie 1, just starting DBZ and while I've seen a lot of DBZ, I haven't seen it all, and I haven't seen any of these TV specials and am wondering where it might make sense to watch them. Thanks.

Ally to good. Nightmare to you.

Bardock before all of it.
HoT after Trunks shows up to kill Frieza?
A Hero's Legacy after all of it.
Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans I have no idea. I can't remember.

Bardock: Anytime before or after the Frieza Saga. Probably right inbetween the Saiyan and Frieza sagas.

History of Trunks: Right before the Android Saga.

Hero's Legacy: Is that the one with Pan's grandson? If so, then right after GT ends I suppose.

Plan to Destroy the Saiyajins: I can't remember it very well, but probably right after the Perfect Cell saga.

I know it's kind of off topic, but can someone please tell me where the DBZ movies go? I remember trying to place them and other than Fusion Reborn, I couldn't think of the rest.

Specials

Bardock: Before episode one of DB

History of Trunks: After the episode with Gohan's tutor, at the very end of which Mecha Frieza shows up. The reason for this is because everything up until this point happened exactly the same in Trunks' timeline up to the beginning of the special.

Plan to destroy the Saiyans: During the ten days before the Cell Games.

Hero's Legacy: This one should actually go right in the middle of the last episode of GT, because the end of that episode actually takes place right after the events of the special.

Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return!: Two years after Kid Buu is defeated.

Movies (approximations, as none of them fit perfectly)

Movie 1: Before Saiyan Saga

Movie 2: After Saiyan Saga

Movie 3: After Saiyan Saga

Movie 4: After Captain Ginyu Saga

Movie 5: After Frieza Saga

Movie 6: After Android Saga

Movie 7: After Android Saga

Movie 8: After Perfect Cell Saga

Movie 9: After Cell Games Saga

Movie 10: After Great Saiyaman Saga

Movie 11: After World Tournament Saga

Movie 12: After Majin Buu Saga

Movie 13: After Kid Buu Saga

Bardock: The Father of Goku (1990)

Wait a second, 1990!? I thought Dragonball Z only began airing anywhere between 1995 and 1997, even in Japan!

I'd only assume that movie would fit before every single Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT show.

Really from the sounds of it you're not too familiar with DBZ at the moment and IMO it would just get confusing trying to make the movies fit being as how they technically DON'T fit in the DB timeline. All you're going to do in confuse yourself as they are alternate realities and timelines. My advise: Watch all the movies before or after you watch DBZ. There are too many plotholes in the movies to make them fit in with the rest of the series.

But that's just me. Go ahead if you really want to.

Despite them being non-canon, we can all agree that Bardock Father of Goku was set before Dragonball of all things.

Bardock is canon, the scene at the end was shown in a flashback in the manga.

I never read that mangan then, and I don't remeber Bardock ever being mentionned in DBZ. It probably has, somewhere early in the first saga, but I don't remember.

I have said in multiple threads that I do consider Bardock canon whether it is or isn't. And History of Trunks, Yo Goku, and A Heroes Legacy. It's the other movies that I don't. But technically the ones I said are, aren't movies...

I agree, except for A Hero's Legacy since that was part of GT, which is entirely non-canon. It also has a serious plothole: there is no way that Goku Jr. could've went SSJ since he was only 1/16 Saiyan.

And Bardock is most definately canon, I have the book right here. It is in vol. 10 of dbz, pages 94 and 95. It's when Frieza is about to fight Goku and realizes "he looks just like the saiyan who resisted until the end."

Thanks for the help, and I'm decently familiar with DBZ, I understand that the movies aren't canon, but I just want to watch them at appropriate times, I guess power level wise. I don't want to watch for example:

Movie 12: After Majin Buu Saga

Movie 13: After Kid Buu Saga

Like say right now when I'm in the first saga of DBZ. I just want to watch them when what I'm watching with the episodes coincides strength wise with the movies. Or at least close enough.
