This will require a bit of thought on your behalf. Please word your answer carefully. My point will come later if it suddenly appears, and if it does not then so be it.

As a theist or atheist, what events or possibilities would make you convert to the opposite idea?
Please make your answers basic.

I'll keep this simple, just like you want.

I NEVER pray, however, last year and the year before, at the end of school year, my school..."life" was getting extrmely bad(grades, love, etc.)
I prayed once both times and said to myself, you know what, if everything does actually go well, I'll promise to start considering God's existence for you know helping me out I guess.

Every since then, I'm still an atheist, but I think, ok, maaaybe.... big big big maybe since I would never believe in him if I never got past those 2 years.

In order to convert to belief, I'd need absoloute, undeniable evidence that whatever religion it is - say Christianity - is right. Some would say the bible is proof, but I don't believe something written by a human - or a collection of humans - can show the power or even the existence of the divine.

God used to talk to people, but he doens't now? Yeah, bite me faith.

To be honest I don't know if there would be anything that would make me convert. If I saw someone walking on water I would think of it to be a trick or just someone that somehow got a super power through science or something. I guess for me to actually start believing god himself would have to talk to me and take me on a tour in heaven, either that or Satan just come to earth with his demon army and laugh "HAHAHAHA, the earth is now mine"

I agree 100% with both posters above me. They about summed up my exact opinions on conversion. (extremely unlikely, haha)

Ok now we need some theist answers.
Probably a rarity hahaha. I'd say if there are any theists on here, they more than likely feel pretty intimidated.

After all, we are a little... bigoted. lol

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

I'm Spiritual. My father I believe believes in God, and my mother used to be quite a devoted Christian, so, I'm a bit distant from them. At one point I considered Atheism as maybe having some merit, but, eh, I think sometimes things are a bit too coincidental, to be, well, coincidences. I believe that there is a God in existence, whether or not I agree with 90% of his annoying followers and groups that try and suck you into activities and such and if you question them they beat you with a Bible or not is another thing.

But what would make you change.

Wow this is a hard topic for me. I don't think I'd ever change from believing in God. Since this is a topic that is up for the possibility, then the only way I'd change is if I died and nothing happened like heaven and stuff like that.

I'd have to agree with AH on this one. If and only if I died and found that there is in fact no God and when you die, you just become a skeleton/corpse in a coffin/pile of ashes, etc etc, I'd admit to it. However, for the time being, although I do not practice regularly if at all, nor study religion in depth, I am perfectly fine accepting that there is some kind of god out there, even if I might not know much about religion or what this god is like. It's one of those things that I can have to hold on to if things get a bit tough for me to handle even if I am clueless about any of it, and a bit spiritual and mystic and all the rest lol.

So basically as theists, you could never be wrong until the day you die. And when you die, then it's possible to be wrong.

I'm waiting for Temphis to reply.

Ally to good. Nightmare to you.

I don't have a faith. But I don't consider myself atheist either. I'm religiously curious. I like to learn about other people's beliefs. In order for me to join a faith, religion, etc, I'd need proof. And not one of those 'miracles' like a baby's birth or something lame like that. Some sort of occurance that cannot be proven by scientific means whatsoever but can't be disproved scientifically either. Basically I'd need the hand of God to come down and beat my skeptical *** before I'd believe.
