hey there, does anyone here think this film lived up to their expectations of what a dragonball film should be like? is this a cult film or did it try to reach a mainstream audience and thus lose its appeal to its diehard fans? |

Another thing I think people should remember about the movie, is that it's taken from the Dragonball era. Maybe not to the T, but to the point of building the backgrounds and characters. Hopefully they'll move forward to the Z era in the next movie. |

well it needs another director i belive that it did ruin the dragon ball saga but if they go to the z saga they need to make it more than 1 movie and give other character's a chance to shine |

It did do DB justice. Even if it turns out to be the worst adaptation of all time, one should still admit that it captured the Dragonball spirit very well. |

ugh... What aspect of DB spirit did it capture very well? Bulma's bike transforming from a pill? yeah that's about it. I've seen through the DB animes - Twice over. You want to see some real movies that come close to capturing the spirit of Dragonball? Watch Rocky 1-5, Rocky Balboa. That captured more of the spirit of DB more than this pile of crap could hope to achieve. This movie is embarrassing if you go out to watch it with non-fans who know you're a hardcore DB fan. |

I've seen the anime many times as well, and read most (not all) volumes of the manga. But this isn't an argument over who's the bigger fan, who's the better fan, who's right or who's wrong. This is my opinion. And I feel it captures the spirit of the series (a search for the Dragon Balls, a final battle which Goku must prepare for... and some vague references here and there, like the tournament and Oozaru). Of course it didn't/couldn't do as well as say Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings (two epic franchises that Dragonball has the potential to rival) did with their source material, but I think it was captured well enough to be Dragonball-esque. I do take back my comment about it doing justice, though. Edited by ryanson209, Jul 22 2009, 04:15 AM.

I feel it didn't do anyone justice. I mean, I freakin love some of the stuff the director and producer of this movie have done in the past. Kungfu Hustle, Shaolin Soccer, both awesome live action flicks that feel like an anime. however, not really anything about this movie reflected the director and producers talents, and the writting felt like it was very rushed, and they didn't even explain where certain things came from, despite the fact they tried to make it seem less like the inconsistant anime and more like an american movie, which would normally mean lots of continuity and a clear plot and story. I was very dissapointed that they replaced some of the original ideas from the manga, with worse ones that had even less foundation than the original. it seemed like a complete fluke. some theaters removed it from their listings withing a couple weeks. it just wasn't a good idea to begin with, it never should have been live action. they should have tried to do something more like FF7 Advent children, though I know they didn't have the budget for much more than what we saw in the movie. I just hope that if they use original ideas in the next one, that they are actually an improvement. |

i thought Dragonball evolution ruined da Dragonball saga. it didn't live up to what dragonball is supposed to be. i found it extremely boring and the fight scenes were even more borin. there were also many holes in the plot and the movie didn't seem to match da anime. |

Well these are the parts they should take out: -Piccolo needs to be a lone fighter no partner and have no ship he can fly by himself. -Piccolo shouldn't kill grandpa gohan. -It should be like that his goku has no memory on how he died and piccolo shouldn't tell him. -maybe that goku and bulma would know yamcha already. (with of few flash backs) -Instead of having goku meet bulma for the first time it whould be like she appears and dosen't realize its bulma until after they fight for a short time. -Goku should not be in school that was one flaw in the movie. -Chow Yun-Fat needs to be bald with sunglasses and the facial hair he had in the 3rd pirates of the carribean except white and more perverted. -There whould be no appearance of ozaru and he would use the kamehameha to do his super dragon fist move in the movie and make it more epic. -Master roshi, bulma, and yamcha shouldn't be in the last scene w/ piccolo but at least ask to help goku but master roshi will say no and that it will be only a goku vs. piccolo. |

This was one of the worst movies that I have ever seen, and the only reason that I actually take the time to comment on it is because it was based on a show that I loved (normally, I just ignore crappy movies). I don't even consider it adaptation, it was exploitation--plain and simple.

Nope, I think this movie didn't do Dragonball justice at all. The writer and director have seen Spiderman a few too many times in my opinion, like the first half of the film is VERY similar like compare (Uncle Ben - Grandpa Gohan, Mary Jane - Chi Chi, Black Bully - White Bully) Like really they need to make a movie for dragonball fans and not pander to the masses. |

When your going to do a movie about a show that is so Great and that everyone loves then you need to put it together perfectly or don't make it at all. Not trying to be cruel but the movie is nothing like DB. I mean sure you have some scenes but just everything abuot the movie was weird. Goku never went to school, where were the dinosaures? Roshis island? The big ape? Everything looked so fake as well. Piccolo, goku, yamcha? didnt even look alike. I really hope that someone does the movie again and a BETTER job at it because this movie just shames DB. I don't know if this movie was serious or if it was just a joke. Gte better actors, more equpiment and if your not up for it then don't do the movie. Let someone else who can meet the standards of DB make the movie because this is just shame.
