Hello all! As you can see from my post count, I'm very new to the forums. In this somewhat "breif" topic I'd like to outline my past history involving all things Dragonball, along with some other interesting information. Real Name: Eric IRL Nickname: Rock. People ask me all the time how I got this nickname. Not to boast or anything, but in high school I was a very good football player. In fact, I turned down a few offers to played in college because it wasn;t in my best interest at the time (these days I wonder if I made the right choice). I played inside linebacker. Nearing midseason of my Freshman year, my coaches starting calling me Rock. It was probably because I was "solid as rock" or something (led the team all 4 years in tackles, starting Varsity my SOPHOMORe year over a SENIOR, obtaining the all CCC & all County awards my junior and senior year... and yes this is a brag because I deserve to brag about that). Birthday: 11-22-88 Born: North Carolina (United States) In the Beginning I can'tremember how old I was exactly, but I do know that it was nearing the end of my 4th grade year (possible summertime) going on to 5th grade. Cartoon Network started up a new anime block that they called Toonami that if I recall ran from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on the weekdays. I decided to give it a try one day. At the time I began watching it, the lineup was ReBoot, Sailormoon, Dragonball Z, and Gundam Wing. Reboot was funny but Sailormoon was too annoying. Then something called Dragonball Z came on. It just so happened to be a VERY action packed episode (Goku vs. Vegeta.. A Saiyan Duel). I instantly fell in love with all of the action and "blasts" and the overall aspect of the show. Needless to say I didn't miss an episode after that. During this time period, they only showed up until the episode where Goku arrives on Namek (Goku: Super Saiyan?) but regardless I kept watching. Text based RPGs #1 - After my family got a DECENT computer in the house, I stumbled upon a Dragonball Z based RPG. It was nearing the end of 1999 when I joined my first DBZ RPG. It was called Metal Coola's RPG and I just so happened to be the 3rd member. It was basic RPG made with http://www.homestead.com where training was done through role playing on a forum and actual fights were turn based in a chat room. It never got very big, maxing out at about 18 active members at it's peak. It only lasted for 4 or 5 months but at the time the RPG ended I was the 2nd strongest player .#2 - After Metal Coola's RPG I decided to look around for another. I ended up finding one that was called Bardock's Ultimate RPG Game. The RPG had a lot of potential and good ideas, but sadly the admins (Bardock & Krillin) didn't really know what they were doing. What always blew my mind was the fact that the owners of the RPG were retarded but people kept flocking to the RPG. When I stopped playing, there were 37 registered members with MOST of them being very active. I didn alright for myself in the RPG; by the time that I decided to leave I was probably in the top 10 as far as power goes. #3 - Although this has nothing to do with DBZ, I'm going to tell about it anyways. After Bardock's RPG I decided to give another type of RPG a try. Gundam Wing to be exact. The RPG is still up and the link is http://www.angelfire.com/gundam/rpgwarzone . Although only 9 members are listed, there were actually about 15 players total. This RPG was very fun and a complete different pace than the DBZ based ones I had come to love. FYI: I played Duo Maxwell in this RPG. #4 - The owners of the Gundam Wing rpg I was playing eventually had real life things get in the way and thus the site just... stopped. I then looked for another RPG. I went back to the Dragonball Z based ones, and eventually found one that by far was the best one I had ever played. The website is still up (well most of it) located at http://www.angelfire.com/ak4/DBZRPGgame/. There were things that made this RPG so fun. For one, it was the 21 FULLY ACTIVE members that were on everyday keeping the game exciting. The other thing was that training was based on personally written role playing that the GM (game master) read himself and thus decided what power to give to you based on the post. The GM also did not play the game at all excluding the occasional evil NPC that showed up for us to fight. He wrote ever battle/spar himself on 2 seperate "update days" so it was always exciting to see who was going to win and what-not. Although I was only apart of this RPG for 4 months before it closed, it was by far the best one I've played. Online MMORPG After the 4th RPG listed above, I gave up on RPGs for a while. Then, in 2003, I was involved in a Dragonball based forum and was approached by a few people on there who were working on a Dragonball Z MMORPG. I used to have a bunch of beta/test pictures somewhere around here (I'll see if I can find them). There were 6 of us of the design team. I won't go into naming people, but myself and 1 other were incharge of testing and VERY SIMPLE coding. After a couple months of work the game was at about 60% completion. I dont know what ever happened, but one of the main guys in the group ended up wiping all the work and actually stealing the game's main source. Present Day After the MMORPG debocal (sp?) I eventually faded off of Dragonball. I was growing up and didn't have time for stuff like that. I never paid attention to Dragoball much but every once in a blue moon I would think about it and watch an episode or 2 online. I'm now 20 years old in college and for some reason, I'm at another point in my life where Dragonball related things suddenly interest me again. Who knows how long it will last this time .

Well as you know (or may not know?) football becomes a 24 hour a day job in college. In fact, one of my best friends ended up going to play at Elon University and his days start about 6:00 am and don't end until 10:00 at night (sometimes a bit later). He lifts weights, eats, goes to class, eats, goes to practice stuff, eats, goes to study hall, and then finally gets back to get some sleep. EVERYDAY throughout the entire football season. Of course he gets a few months off time but then football workouts start back up after winter. Don't get me wrong. Being on the football team at a college can benefit you incredibly. For one, you'll get HUGE and stay in awesome shape. It also generates a lot of benefits relating to girls and parties (but I won't go into that here ). I just didn't want to spend my college years going through all that.So I decided to just go where I wanted to. Which ended up being the University of North Carolina at Wilmington (UNCW). Wilmington is a beach town, too. So not only am I going to college at the beach, but I can spend the time I'm not studying or in class with friends and partying .

Computer Science . There isn't really anything spereate that you can get (i.e. Computer Programmer,Computer Engineer, etc). But it's not bad. The only thing that sucks is the math classes. I am TERRIBLE at math and turns out I have to take up to Calc 2 which makes me want to just shoot myself .About my name: to be honest I don't really know. With the Dragonball RPGs I was always an in-game character (excluding the last RPG I played I was known as Chitsu). I remember way back when I first created a GameFaqs.com account I couldn't decide what my name should be. SpongeCake just popped in my head so I ended up using it. Since then I've almost always used SpongeCake as my forum alias.
Absolutely not. It's been driving me crazy. After I first joined I noticed it and came very close to creating another forum account just so I could be member #4,000 but as stated above I like SpongeCake to be my forum alias. The reason it drives me crazy is #1 I think I'm a bit OCD over some stuff, even numbers being one of them; and #2 my favorite number is 4. AHH! |

Yes, eventually. Also plan on throwing up a signature soon too. I'll just have to take a minute to make one. |

Are you a fan of Spongebob Squarepants, or is the name just a coincidence? I've seen you like to party, would you consider yourself a bar or club person? What's your biggest goal in life? |

#1 - I despise Spongebob and all things related. The name is just coincidence :P . #2 - That's a very hard question to answer. I'm currently 20 years old. When I turned 18 I did what most 18 year olds do: started going to clubs. In the past 2 years I've been to club(s) countless times, but I rarely find myself going these days. I don't really mind going if there's a decent group to go with, but most of the people I hang out are over that whole club scene. As far as bars go, I love them. In fact there hasn't been a Thursday night (college night) where I haven't went down to the beach bars .#3 - My biggest goal in life as of right now is just living it to the fullest. It's 2nd semester of my sophomore year of college ALREADY so I'm trying to just enjoy my friends, partying, the beach, and generally living like there's no tomorrow. OF course these goals will change once graduated as I assume I'll begin focusing more on my future. |
