I saw a couple of topics about this, so I wonder what everyones views of this are. As far as I am concerned, Roleplaying (Ill refer to it as rp from now on) is great. Ive been doing it for quite some time now and my experience ranges from chat room rps to full blown foums and back again. Ive played in a number of anime inspired games ,some that actually take the anime or manga and through new characters into the mix. Ive played stat, I've played pure writing, and I've written a broad spectrum of characters. I love being able to create characters that fit into the world outlined by an rp. In fact character creation is probably my favorite aspect of the game, though I also enjoy creates RP's and working out systems and storylines. It gets my brain ticking and soon I find myself thinking about ideas all day sometimes. What are your opinions on roleplaying and roleplayers? |

The only kind of roleplaying I will play really are computer/handheld games with a story, I can't text RP and I find the boxed games like Dungens and Dragons quite boring. I find text based ones boring but I can't play them because I can't concentrate long enough on the plot and rules to get into it. People who do like to do both of those I don't like, well great for them, whatever you're into and all that. I don't mind if people want to RP but I'm not going to take part. |

I like Roleplay, although in my opinion I've never been that great at it. I've done DBZ, Bleach, Naruto, Warriors (Which I'm actually active on), stat, text and actual RPG's on consoles. I find Text-based ones the best, aside from Console. I enjoy making my own character, with his own traits and personality on a current series compared to creating a brand new one in a new universe (Like a book) because the rules aren't set when you write something, but RP's take out that rule, which means I know what boundries I have |

I like RPGs, probably my favourite type of game. I love the Final Fantasy games, the Kingdom Hearts games and many others. As for RPing on forums and websites I don't mind it. It can be fun and since I enjoy writing it's a place where I can let my creative side out. However I tend to get bored of them quickly due to a mixture of some people making things get out of hand and I'll just forget to keep checking on it. |

Though its kinda veering off the topic I had originally planned, I suppose playing RPG's on consoles is another form of Role PLaying so it shall stand haha. RPG games are actually my favorite as I love to work my way through a story, trying to make connections before they are spelled out for you in the game. That's probably another reason why I like roleplaying on the internet so much as well. When I'm in an rp I get to interact with all sorts of characters. In doing so you learn how to write with your personality against others, thus improving your written style. And at the same time you meet some good people who control these characters and I've actually made a group of friends from people I've rped with in the past. |

I did use to RP on a small private forum when I was younger, but the people who I was doing it with started getting weird and basically made it into a cybering forum - so me and my friend stopped posting pretty much. I'd love to get back into it though, but there's way too many "It's the year 31023804928...you are the good guy and robots have gone mad" or superhero related ones. I'd want to try something different. |

It's OK for a laugh, but I'm not a very good creative writer so I don't really go in for it. |

I have a thing against talking in third person, or using a persona other than your original text. This is the main reason i'm against role playing. It's really annoying when you're trying to have a conversation with someone and then they start talking in third person to express their emotions. It's a degraded form of social interactivity and has no place in regular speech. Confined to a place of specific role play activity, it runs wild. Though over the last 9+ years i've been on forums, it never lasts. The thing about role playing forums and role playing sections, they never last. It becomes a waste land and an eye sore. And that's what I think. |
