| Is the Garlic Jr. Saga Just A Filler? | |

Hello I know that when Akira Toryiama was writing the manga the anime caught up to him so while he released more chapters and volumes of his manga TOEI created that filler about Piccolo and Goku trying to find a car. Anyway Garlic Jr. claimed that the dead zone events did happen if so wouldn't the Garlic Jr. Saga be one of those fillers? It does seem like one to me all because seeing it features Piccolo, Kuririn, and Gohan I just think that Akira really wouldn't bother to write something like that or publish it. Anyways thanks in return.

The Garlic Jr. Saga is completely filler, as are all the movies. I think the reason they put in the Garlic Jr. Saga was for a way to show the other characters i.e Krillin, Piccolo and Kid Gohan, are able to 'save the world' without Goku. |

I still liked Gohan in the bojack movie. Gohan as a SSJ2 Teen in Goku's outfit was epic

I saw it as a build up to Gohan's power in the Cell Saga. Like in the saga's before, we see glimpses of the power Gohan has, and with the Dead Zone movie aswell. So with the Garlic Junior Saga, it would show the gap where Goku isn't back on Earth, aswell as focussing on Gohan's power. Edited by DLFlux, Jan 25 2009, 01:01 AM.

The Movies aren't fillers, they're side stories co existing with the present story, and yes Garlic Jr is a filler and wasn't in the Manga. |

The movies don't always co-exist with the storyline. Yes some do such as Bardock's movie, but a lot of them don't. Otherwise they'd all be mentioned in the series, which they aren't. Plus, isn't filler pretty much anythign that didn't happen in the manga? |

Wikipedia beats BluPiccolo any day. The movies are filler, as is the Garlic Jr saga. |

i don't get how a women can pour boiling hot wax onto their upper thigh, then rip the hair out by the root... and still be afraid of a spider. | |

I love that argument, it's so full of flaws. Do you even realise how many times a day Wikipedia is checked for edits? The editors will look something up, check if the edit is true/ actually makes sense and if it doesn't, they remove it. Don't b/s about Wiki's unreliability, it has more knowledge than any one of us |

The movies are not filler, because the term "filler" applies to the show. However, the movies are completely non-canon, as not one of them fits perfectly into the story. Bardock and History of Trunks are canon because they are tv specials not movies. The Garlic Junior saga is kind of double-filler when you think about it. It is filler based on a non-canon movie. And I think it shouldn't have been done because I'm sure there were a lot of people who had been watching the show since ep.1, but hadn't seen the movies, and they must've been confused out of their minds! Emperor Cold i was one of those 'What the heck are these people talking about' guys. I joined the Z story line in the Frieza saga in the anime, I didnt get a lot of the flashback scenes (things like Piccolo having flashbacks to when he fought Goku in the Budokai tournament in Dragonball) BUt i enjoyed the idea that there was a history to everything. I liked the Garlic Jnr. saga, it wasnt great but had its moments. Ack! at least it gave us a little bit more time in the Dragonball Z universe. It is a filler to me but one that fits. Peace.

I hope it was just a filler becaue it was a really lame storyline. I wish they would have just never made that portion of the series. |

I think it was a bit of a filler but it was also to place some emphasis on Gohan and bring him to centre stage more and show that he was getting stronger. (yes in a lead up to cell). Gohan can save the world to, yay =) |
