i just saw the movie like 10 mins ago and the ending doesn't make sense. Tapion gave Trunks his sword and is that how Future Trunks got the sword? If so look at the movie History of Trunks, after he finally turns SSJ and fights the adroids you see him with that same exact sword. This would only make sense if one of the movies aren't related to the series. Explain please. |

Every single Dragonball Z movie is a filler. It has nothing what so ever to do with the Dragonball Z storyline. A movie could easily say "Goku got his Saiyan power by playing Junior hockey at the university of Michigan" and it won't have anything to do with the show you see on TV. (DBZ) |

Are you sure? For example, in the Bojack movie they talk about Cell and Trunks defeating the androids in the future world, and in Bio-Broly there's 18 getting her money from Mr. Satan because of the deal she made in the tournament. Also all of the movies, or at least some of them, are Funimation. I thought only a few of them didn't follow the series and some of them did. |

Replace my word filler with Non-canoncal. Most probably everything that happens in the movies are not mentionned in the linear DBZ storyline; if they are then it is a filler. Sure stuff from the anime could be mentionned in the movies. What came first? The anime or the movie. Anyways don't take those movies to seriously, like I said they are non-canoncal do not follow the linear DBZ storyline. If I'm not mistaking Broly for example, is nothing more than a filler made by the writers to generate money and a couple of storylines that can be used for movies and video games. |

Some how (but unexplained) Future Trunks got his sword form his time lines Tapion. Also Wrath of the Dragon can be considered cannon sense it fits after the Buu Saga. Also its just for the hell of telling how kid Trunks gets his sword IMO. |

It's not the same Trunks and it's not the same sword. When F. Trunks changed the past he created a new/separate timeline. The future of this Trunks is not the same as F. Trunks. Movie 13 was just Toei's way of making a parallel to F. Trunks. It's a completely different sword that Trunks obtains in a completely different way. This makes sense. The fact that Tapion uses the time machine to go back and save his brother/decides to stay there... really doesn't(There would be two of him in one timeline...) But the movies aren't canon to begin with, they weren't written by Toriyama. Expect plotholes. Edited by x_bura_x, Jan 15 2009, 11:00 PM.

Yeah the movies aren't canon so they're all just "What if"s or alternate realities. For example in movie 7 (The one with the 3 new androids), when 17 is killing Dr.Gero the DBZ crew is busy shopping when they were supposed to be at the entrance to Dr.Gero's lab. |

the movies relate in a way, such as Tree of Might and Dead Zone, which actually tie somewhat into the storyline (mainly of the anime). But others arent even possible such as Cooler's Revenge, which displays Goku on earth but unable to go super saiyan even though in the series he could transform at will after he came back to earth. Plus Trunks killed Frieza. Makes Cooler look like a douche dont it:D |

I just take the movies in stride and don't interpret them as fact. There has been instance such as the Garlic Jr. saga where they reference the movie [Dead Zone] but it's filler and actually a HUGE plothole. In Dead Zone, no one knew of Gohan and he was introduced to everyone. Goku and Piccolo team up for the first time. But in actuality, all of that happened when Raditz came to Earth... Huge plothole. Huge... |

The sword Trunks recieves from Tapion is not the sword Future Trunks has. I can prove that. In the future timeline, Piccolo dies around the time Future Trunks is born. No Piccolo means no Dragonballs, and no Dragonballs means Tapion never gets freed from his box, as they couldn't open it without the Dragon. Even if Hoi did come to Earth in the future time line, Tapion would never be freed. Wrath of the Dragon is a good story of how Kid Trunks gets a sword, but not Future Trunk's sword. |

But there must have been another way to open the music box if Hoi had already released Minosha on another planet. I think it's possible that a series of events similar to the movie could've taken place in the future timeline, except that Trunks would've killed Tapion while Hirudegarn was inside of him. After all, with no one else around to fight Hirudegarn, that would've been the only way to defeat him. I know that the movies are non-canonical and don't really fit into the storyline, but I think it's more fun to come up with elaborate theories, even if they are a bit of a stretch. It just seems like a cop out to say "oh, that's non-canon so it doesn't count." Use your imaginations people! |

it isnt exactly how future trunks got the sword. but think of it this way. trunks in any time line is destined to have a powerful sword. this just explains how this time line trunks got his |

I love Gohan and Videl Dragon ball Z Forever "Guardian of the city, I am the one and only...Great Saiyaman!" - Gohan "Fight you? No, I wanna kill you." - Gohan to Super Buu "It will take more than head games to stop me! You may have invaded my mind and my body, but there's one thing a Saiyan always keeps...HIS PRIDE!" - Vegeta "There's no such thing as fair or unfair in battle. There is only victory, or in your case, defeat." - Vegeta "Servant woman, bring me a drying cloth at once!" - Vegeta "I am the hope of the universe. I am the answer to all living things that cry out for peace. I am protector of the innocent. I am the light in the darkness. I am truth. Ally to good! Nightmare to you!" - Goku | |
