He came back because his core was still left after the explosion and as long as it survives, he can regenerate back. He was more powerful because of the Saiyan cells in him and after his brush with death he got a power boost to SSJ2 ("...and I've powered up-like Son Gohan.") |

it wasn't the best explanation. I think if it had actually said his main core, that would have been better. unfortuanately, at least in the english/funimation version, they had him say "I regenerated from a single surviving nucleous from one of my cells".....yeah, that can't happen, but oh well. |

He said every cell of his body contained a life force of its own, so he could regenerate from any one cell left. In the funi version anyway. His cell(s?)remembered the structure of his perfect form and rebuilt him to be perfect again. Was it said in the manga that he could only regenerate from his core? I haven't read it. I thought that was only Piccolo's weakness, and that Cell could regenerate from any tiny bit of body left, like Buu, though not as fast or effective. And yes, because of his Saiyan genes he got a huge power up, but he wasn't equal to SSJ2 Teen Gohan. Gohan was injured and his power had been "cut by half" and still beat him. |

His power may not have been equal to Gohan's, but he was a SSJ2. Shown by the electiricity bolts around him, plus like I said he says he "powered up like Son Gohan." To clear up how he can regenerate, quoted from the manga: "There's a small cluster of cells in my head . It makes up my 'core'. If that core isn't destroyed, my body can go on regenerating, even if only microscopic pieces remain." |

thats one nasty loop hole, he should have blown himself up agian, and agian, and again, until he was a god or somthing. it's no wonder they don't give him self destruct in the games, you would instantly win, and then have full health :P |

But during the fight with Goku his whole top half got blown away (which should've given him a power boost as well). My theory is that he also has a secondary core on his chest: the large black spot in the center. As for blowing himself up over and over again, it took a long time to charge it up; he would've been blown away while he was sitting there wide open. But I think the reason he didn't do it was because he thought he wouldn't need to because of his new power up. He surely would prefer defeating an opponent by skill rather than by default, unless he had no other choice. Oh and btw he did have the self-destruct in his second form in Sparking Meteor (Tenkaichi 3). Edited by Emperor Cold, Jan 13 2009, 05:41 PM.

That makes me wonder. When Goku blew up the upper portion of Cell with his teleport Kamehameha, Cell reformed his upperbody from his bottom half and not from his brain cluster or anything. Kinda a flaw with that no? Edit: Sorry, seemed to have messed up quoting. Edited by Ranma, Jan 13 2009, 05:44 PM.

Or as we like to call it "Super Cell" Anyways, if you didn't see it(who didn't?) The explosion by Veku Cell blew up everything, and as you would image when something explodes the outer or pieces would still be around which is why he came back, and the Saiyan cells made him stronger, especially from a blast like that which basically killed him. |

As I understood it, as long as he still has some cells left, he can regenerate. That would explain how he was able to regenerate after Goku blew his head off
