there are a few character names in the dragon ball saga and dragon ball z saga that have grown on me, but my initial impression was "strange?". for example, Bulma, and her whole family. sure it's funny, but if I'm doing a more realistic version of the franchise, should I keep it? I can only imagine the sphycological stress she and her family would have had to endure by the sheer embarassment of their names lol. but seriously, goku, though not knowing what a girl was, somehow know what "bulma" was, that striked me as peculiar, but not as piculiar as Bulma and Vegeta deciding to name thier daughter Bra. that would be an uncomfortable name to have to divolge in conversation, "hi whats your name", "Bra......." lol. then theirs the whole King Cold family. I don't know if it's Cliche to have the name of Freeza, while your brother is Cooler, but it sure wasn't intimidating to me. even if it was his name, you would think he might of come up with a nick name for himself, or a title to go by instead. anywho, theres some others too, please tell me if it would be good or bad to change characters names and if so which ones. if you have any suggestions for new names let me know as well. oh yeah, I also remember now. I was thinking about changing the androids names to letters of the Greek Alphabet, that way, Dr. Gero would be Upsilon, instead of #20. android 19 would be Tau, 18=Sigma, 17=Rho, 16=Pi, 13=Nu, and I don't remember who all the others were, but yeah, at least those can actually be names instead of #'s. tell me what ya think. so heres the characters I'm thinking of changing names of, and some of them have example names. Androids 1-24(if there ever are that many)= greek alphabet King Cold= Emperor Frigus (Frigus now being the name of the "changeling home world") Bulma= Bulsa Brief Dr. Briefs= Professor Brief Trunks= Terunks Brief (pronounced Ter'Unx) (the Saya-jins don't have last names, so Vegeta and Goku don't have their spouses change names either) Bra= Barbra Brief thats all I mostly have a problem with so far. heres some last names as well: Goku: Son(title) adopted from Grandpa Gohan. it's also passed on to his both of his kids. King(his legal last name adopted from Chichi, making his full name later "Son Goku King") Vegeta: Prince (Title that he carry's on to honor his father) Brief (same story as Goku) Hercule: Abaddon (this is another biblical name for the devil, but can be applied to other things as well) Ox King Gyumao: King is now his last name, and his part of his title, lol. people usually call him by his title, or full name, excluding the title, our of respect and/or to prevent redundencies. Kuririn: Oranji (his families temple carries the "Oranji" name, so it is called the "Oranji Temple") Tenshinhan: Shinto (this was tiens name in the "Harmony Gold" dub of dragon ball) Chaozu: Jiāngshī (Jiangshi is a Chinese form of a essence sucking zombie. Akira based Chaozu off of the concept of one.) Ubu: Djinn (another name for a genie. this is also one of Buu's alias's, "Djinn Buu") Yajirobe: Imensei ("immense") Yamucha: Dimsume ("Yam cha" literally means "drink tea", referring to the gathering to drink tea and eat dim sum. so his last name is now also food related) Giran: Dynomo (he looks sort of like a dinosaur, so I thought dino-somthing for a last name, Dynomo sounds cool, and it fits) Also, certian movie villains, some getting new Titles, like: Lucifer (from the movie: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle)=Beelzebub (and he would have a true form that looks like a devil with insect like armor and things like that, and would have maybe another form where he is a complete monster. he would also not be able to be defeated by Goku, but interfering with the giant cannon destroy's the Devils Hand.) Bojack: The Legendary Super Setsunite (the same race as Zarbon. Zarbon's ability is not racial, but has been aquired through magic and training) I'll finnish the other characters later. if ya have any suggestions or characters you'd like to see last names for, let me know. tell me what ya think about these names and stuff! not bad name changes but I think Trunks should stay as is. Turk just doesnt just doesnt fit right: Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks: Goku, Vegeta, and Turk? It leaves a bad taste in my mouth IMHO. But thats just me so go with what you want. Everything else sounds good, maybe try looking for other languages to pronounce the characters names or use names other than english: Yamcha could be spanish, Tien could be British or maybe english. Just a few ideas. |

I did do that latin for cold for King Cold(Frigus) but most characters I want to have the japanese names. I wasn't sure about Turk either, it is a more realistic name, but Trunks has already grown on everyone. maybe I can change the spelling, so it wasn't like they were intentionally naming him after a pair of boxers. I was thinking of naming Frieza- Solidus and Coola- Lixas, which sounds really cool, but I kinda like the comical nature of their names, and it's not impossible for aliens to have names like that. plus I want them to fuse when fighting Goku in the underworld, and the fussion name is Ref'riga (Cooler+Freezer=Refrigerator XD LOL) I like how it sounds. well, thanks, I hope I get more responses, especially on Bulmas name (Bulsa) before I get started. I changed Trunks to Terunks, same thing but with two vowel sounds instead. BTW, If I did change Freiza and Coola's names, they will be Solidus and Lixas. when fused together, would be called Plasmas and would increase to the sixth form rather than 5th, because of the power boost (similar to Gotenks going SSJ3) also, when they fuse, Solidus might be Mecha Solidus, and Lixas Meta form. the result will be a challange for SSJ3 Goku, but Cell will have a few new tricks as well, and some other people might be their as well.
