Saw the movie and I thought it was pretty good. Not great like it could have been but pretty good. So People saying Chatwin was horrible in the acting? Well come on I thought he was doing Goku pretty good, Goku is a goofy cheesy character, so it was perfect. Master Roshi turned out better than I expected pretty goofy and still had that perverted moment. Bulma was good. Yamcha kept true to the manga being a bandit. Picollo was pretty good, Oozaru looked good in the movie. I'm not a big fan about the story of oozaru in the movie, but I can take it, wasn't a big deal to me, especially since in the series of DBZ oozaru become sunimportant. Now the fight scenes I will admit were short, could have been longer but I still thought they were good, would have been awesome if they were bigger. The Picollo fight was no doubt the best fight but still short. Now these are pretty much themain reasons the movie wasn't as good as it could have been. 1.This was pretty much an introduction to the series and the characters to get to know each other 2.The film was short, had it been longer would have been much better however my belief as to why the movie was short is simple. BEFORE the movie even began production people were already bashing it and hating it. So why the hell would fox make a long movie for a first one when it was already being bashed and hated? People never gave it a chance even before production. Now if rumors are true and I hope that they are that a second movie has been green lit, I hope they make it longer with longer and more intense fighting scenes. I thought it was a good entertaining movie. I mean DB/DBZ was goofy and cheesy at times like the movie at times, so it fit the movie good. Yeah the acting wasnt the greatest but I wasn't expecting top acting for a movie based on anime, I mean look at Speed Racer I liked that movie and it was pretty weird too so everyone has their opinions. I liked it and if you call me any names for liking it, then you're the idiot not because you didn't like it, but because calling me names based on my opinion Edited by -Zero-, Apr 11 2009, 01:50 AM.

Didn't see this thread anyways... -Justin Chatwin acted bad -Some of the information was more dodgy, and newcomers might have founded the film harder to understand then the actual anime. -Fight scenes were bad -Scene after credits wasn't that great |

The information given was all that needed, this isn;t a movie where you need to know so many things from the way it was done. It was basic Picoolo nearly destroyed the earth 2000 years ago, came back to take over that's pretty much all you needed to know was locked away and now is back. Nothing big to it EDIT: Even in the manga and anime when was Dragonball ever extremely informative? Not much really Edited by -Zero-, Apr 11 2009, 02:15 AM.

I'm going to be honest. I didn't like it very much. I enjoyed it, but I wasn't too thrilled. I'm also not going to go too far in depth about the movie, simply because if I pick it apart like most people are doing, i'll hate it even more than I do now. Could have been better, and I don't see how they can continue the series using anything remotely Dragonball or Z related after King Piccolo still being alive. |

What I think they are doing for the movies, is having just one Picollo so I'm guessing that the picollo used in this movie will be the same used to join up with Goku. I mean if they did change the Oozaru story than this is pretty much small to do that |

Just watched it. It had its moments, but it was definitely geared towards a young audience. But, personally, I enjoy watching cheesy movies and shows because they're inadvertently funny

Honestly, I went into the theatre with low expectations. At least that way, I couldn't really be disappointed. All in all, iI thought the movie was okay. Obviously, they could have done far more things to help the movie out, but they got the basics dwn... for the most part. Could have used a bit more detail in the stroy, but the movie got rated PG, so there isnt a chance it'd be phenominal. |

Worst film I've seen in ages. Acting was rubbish, fight scenes were mostly boring and only one was decently choreographed (but that was when the film was still in *****ty teen drama mode so I didn't like that either), only half decent character was Roshi because he had a slight sense of humour, everyone else was a whiny stereotype with no charisma, talent, blah blah blah raeg blah. |

I may or may not see it but my brother did and he said that the fighting kept to the anime, but it wasn't as funny, I thought Id give his feedback since I didn't really watch DB and I dont know if I'm gonna see it or not. |

I saw it an hour ago. What I liked: 1) Chow Yun Fat/Roshi was the most faithful to his character. Pervy, jokes around, and the Hawaiian shirt/sunglasses made an appearance. 2) Bulma was okay, but they completely left out the manipulative, selfish side of her that she's known for. 3) I loved the capsule bike. 4) Aside form the bad dialogue, Goku vs bullies wasn't so bad. What I didn't like: 1) It was sloppy and rushed. 2) Flat acting and extremely cheesy/cliche dialogue. 3) Really bad characterization for Goku and Yamcha. The characters were all pretty shallow. 4) Yamcha(I want to be rich!) and Bulma's(I want to be famous!) wishes. Why would Bulma want fame? She's the daughter of one of the richest/most famous scientists in the world. Isn't she already famous? :/ 5) Oozaru's connection to Piccolo. That was just... ugh.. How are they going to explain the Saiyans if they continue this? 6) Oozaru itself. He looked like a giant gorilla-bear with dentures. 7) Dull fights, especially the last one. 8) Goku/Chi Chi romance scenes were pretty awful. 9) How did Piccolo escape? Where did he come from? What is his motivation? 10) Why did Goku bring back Roshi and not grandpa Gohan? He chose to bring back the guy he met yesterday over the man who has raised him since he was a baby? 11) Why were they waiting in the hole Yamcha dug for hours if Roshi could easily jump out? Weren't they supposed to be in a hurry? |

Well for one, the dragonball they were searching for also happened to be down there. So that might've been the reason. Of course I could be wrong, so whatever. That's how I interpreted it. Anyways. Aside from the effects. The movie was fairly decent. Honestly, it's really pissing me off with all the die-hard fans that kept complaining on how sucky it was. And it pisses me off more when they have the nerve to diss it and you didn't even see it. You're shooting it down before you give it chance. They're basing this in real life, so of course there were going to be some changes made. I felt that the movie still held true to the Dragonball sense. Sure the Oozaru and Piccolo connection doesn't make sense. But they wouldn't have added that if it had posed as a problem for the potential next movie. I think they have this under control. The romance scenes were really cute to me. Goku so awkward and nerdy was a funny side to see for me. It was also cute the way Chi Chi would run up to him everytime he greeted her. Made me smile ![]() Roshi was still Roshi. You have to love them for that. Bulma was pretty much Bulma to me as well. Actually, she kicked even more ***** than she did in the manga. In the manga, they would have had her running away and stuff. Here, she's shooting and just like whoa, okay lol. I loved that about her. Yamcha, meh, didn't really like to begin with, so I really didn't care for him. It was pretty good to me, and I'll be just as happy if they decide to make a sequel to it. |

But the radar didn't go off until after he jumped out of the hole. They spent the entire night talking about Piccolo and how crucial it was find the dragon balls immediately.
People are taking it too personally as expected. It wouldn't bother me if they made a few sequels, partially because I'm curious about how they'll handle the other characters(I've been waiting for a live action Trunks since they announced the planning of the movie in 2003) and partially because I want to see the overly dramatic reactions from enraged Vegeta fanboys/girls. That would be priceless. There's always a chance they'll learn from the mistakes of the first one. Maybe hire a new screenwriter. |

I have seen the movie weeks back. In my opinion, the whole movie is just a waste of time. Maybe because I expected more on the movie. I kinda liked the trailer, it looks awesome. But when I saw the movie I kinda felt disappointed. The characters in the movie doesn't seems like their anime counterpart, especially Yamcha. And Piccolo doesn't have his trademark cape.
