Not sure why this was never really looked at, but here it is. Analyze the fight between Kid Goten and Kid Trunks. If this was not tournament rules, and was a fight to the finish, who would win?

But seeing that Trunks gets all cocky and confidence he might make a mistake allowing Goten to win.

I mean there were quite a few restrictions including no SSJ, no energy blasts, ring outs and a limited space etc. Goten was only beaten by a ring-out, and a very, very unlucky one at that. However, I do still think Trunks would win due to him having more control over everything. He can control his ki blasts a lot more easily and also learned to fly way before Goten. Also when they power up to ready themselves for fusion, Piccolo states that Trunks is a little stronger.

Posts: 11,612 Group: Legend Member #88 Joined: January 16, 2005	I think this has been looked at like 100 times. It's rly close, they're only a year apart and they train themselves. The only differnce. Goten is trained by Chi-chi and Gohan and he's the son of Goku and the theres trunks who's trained by his dad Vegeta mostly. Trunks knew how to fly so i think that would have been a clear win for him. Goten knows now too so its tough to decide. SSJ-Mitas is right, Piccolo did say Trunks had to lower his power bit to get it down to Gotens.

If they were the same age and Goku had been alive for the first portion of Goten's life, then I think Goten would be the clear winner. But as it stands, Trunks was more powerful.

Google Chrome Favourite Manga DBZ, Full Metal Alchemist	Famicommander is right. Goten was trained, but not to the extent Trunks was (which is what we'd expect of Vegeta's son :P). I mean Goten barely knew how to control his ki blasts and didn't know how to fly until Gohan taught him. So if Goku was there to train him then he would be stronger, even in spite of the age gap. This is because Goku's family is more naturally gifted than Vegeta's family, in my opinion anyway.

Goten in my opinion seem more talented seeing that he made Trunks comment that he was ALOT stronger when they fought on the tournement. Remember Goten and Gohan only did some training since Gohan was busy with Videl so even with little training he managed to close the gap or close enough to Trunks.
