Does anyone else think that Dragon Ball could look good in 3D? I'm not talking about some beefed up from of cell-shading to make 3D look like the anime, I'm talking about a from of realistic but still stylized 3d that more along the lines of Live Action but without the fail-cheesy sauce. So you could have a Goku that looks like realistically human, but at the same time, a tail and giant hair. Toss in a few effects and good animation, and you have an awesome system. You wouldn't get the Live Action with obvious CG looks, or the Cell Shaded trying to be anime look. Am I alone in this opinion or does the idea have any merit to it? Please tell me what you think! |

I don't think I'd be too fond of this. To me Dragonball Z will always be a cartoon, whether it's the Anime or the Manga. Sure we'd all love for a flawless live action movie to be released, but that's almost never gonna happen. With animated drawings, they can do so much more without worrying "Hey this isn't realistic enough" or "How can we make Piccolo look like a realistic, but alien person?" among other things. I think it's a nice idea, and one that we'll all cling to in hope that it can be done, but I personally don't think it would work. |

You mean kind of like Beowulf? Where they used actors and just plastered them with CGI. I actually think that would be pretty great. |

I've never seen Beowulf so I don't know how it looks. I just find it hard to imagine anybody managing to pull of things like the crazy hairstyles, Piccolo, SSJs without it looking unrealistic and ridiculous. |

Well, once you've done a character in 3d once, you can use the same model for the entire rest of the show. I too, have never seen Beowulf, but I've seen a commercial or too. The bodies would already translate well into 3d, the only problem would be the heads... but I can think of several ways to do those. For guys like Piccolo and Freiza, they look close enough to humans that they could also translate well. |

I'd prefer animation similar to that of Final Fantasy Advent Children or Appleseed, but I could see Beowulf-like animation working. Live Action would be perfectly fine too(with CG special effects).... it's the hollywood-ized characters that just don't seem to fit in the upcoming movie. |

It would be a hell of a lot better than any live action movie attempt. Just as long as it has a decent budget and crew, a 3D DBZ movie would be great. |

I think Final Fantasy Advent Children-type graphics would work brilliantly. I mean Cloud has an extreme hairstyle, and they managed to pull that off without him looking ridiculous. |

Exactly! Plus with 3D you could have characters that look like they do in the anime, not just in relation to hair size and face, but also in size, and outfits; Non of this badass Bulma, black haired Roshi stuff. |

I like this idea, but it could only work if it was thought independently of the show... There will be a split of lovers and haters if this was ever going to happen. Like the movie coming out now, I want to see it but I'm going to try not to associate it too much with my favourite cartoon or else my standards would be way too confining. Advent Children style though, sounds really neat. |

What if someone made a near exact remake of the show(s)? With only very minor differences, like fixing the few inconsistencies?(Ignoring most of the movies, since they kinda don't mix well with the shows.) |

No, I haven't; could you tell me the full name of the movie, or post a link to a page with information or a youtube video or something? If you're talking about 'The Path to Power', then no, it isn't in 3d, it's just a more modern style of animation, which is a lot higher quality than the origional Dragon Ball/Z.
