My reading teacher and one of my classmates were talking about the book Twilight, and how the apple is supposed to be symbolic of something in the book ( I have not read the book so IKD what the symbol is, but it doesn't really matter). What I am wondering is if Ryuku's (spelled right?) love for apples is supposed to have some kind of meaning beyond just some comic relief? |

Apples often symbolize life, but it could also symbolize the "forbidden fruit" that Adam and Eve ate in the bible. Ryuk's role(temptation) is very similar to that of the serpent's. The scene where L washes Light's feet may also be a biblical reference. Some people claim the creator stated it had no symbolic purpose, but I highly doubt that. |
