What was some scenes of Dragonball Z that were upsetting for you. For me, Piccolo dying from Nappa really makes me upset...Everytime I watch it , I hold back tears.

Yeah Piccolo's death was sad as was Goku's against cell, not much more of a tear jerker but you do feel sad afterwards.

I have three: Piccolo's first death, Vegeta sacrificing himself for his family, and Piccolo's final death.

Nothing from the series ever came close to bringing about tears. In the end it's a lighthearted and slightly childish cartoon. I love it all the same, but it's just not a series that invites emotional attachment. That said, I think the saddest part of the series was when Tambourine killed Krillin. It's when the series as a whole started to take a darker tone, and it was a big shock that they'd actually kill off a kid like that.

When DBgt first came out it actually made me cry (srsly) because it was just simply awful. I agree with Emperor Cold that Vegeta blowing himself up was emotional seeing that a coldhearted dude who gave up his mind and soul to gain power actually did that just for his loved 1s.

I feel the series lacked enough seriousness to have real tear jerkers. after they explained you could get wished back to life with dragon balls, death seemed to be a small obstacle. also, the sheer comic value of most the characters, not to mention bad/non-realistic dialog, made it hard for me to even feel attached to any of the characters. vegeta always talks in the same tone, goku too, most the time. there just isn't a lot of range in emotion. this is partly to blame on funimations part, for not utilizing the voice actors properly. thats just how I feel though, I"m sure not everyone will agree with all that.
