You know... sometimes totalitarianism is a very VERY good thing. http://www.freemuse.org/sw29040.asp Hey, if you want a strong nation perhaps restricting pussy music is a first step. Now, this begs the question... Will razor blade sales skyrocket or plummet afterward? Could be a great investment opportunity.

I want to know what would happen if someone tried that in the US or the UK. I don't think its right to take a way someones ability to express them self in that way. |

You can't be whatever you want when a country is like Russia or even China, you are what your country wants you to be. |

It's former communism. When something is causing a backwards flow in society, the best thing to do is to ban it right? |

I do believe Russia has much bigger issues, like crime syndicates, poor education, and rampant poverty. It would be more productive for Russia to sponsor arts programs that help teenager acts in the Federation that offer a higher caliber of musical production and skill as well as a more indepth view of life and it's complications rather than the obviously lacking "Emo" alternative. But, of course, government is damn near always the antithesis of productivity when it really gets down to the nitty gritty. But the sheer hilarity of this article made me have to post it. Don't take my words too seriously. Edited by Haze55, Sep 7 2008, 03:11 PM.

I'm what you call an individual, I don't follow trends, I think for myself. Emo as you put it as I have said in another topic is more like a clut than anthing, a fashion trend that will eventually die out and only those who did it to be noticed will stop. Obviously some people will still follow it as you have other old fashions still around but no longer populare. You say 'it's a way of life' but really, to be something that represents to most people as someone who is forcing depression on themselfs and dressing very simler to each other, calling that a way of life is kind of hard. It strips people of the individuality and uniquness, you can say you are free and unique but are you? You are following a fashion, you are no more unique than everyone else who calls themself 'emo' you see. Note that I say forceing depression on themselfs because most 'emos' seem to pretend to be depressed rather than actually being depressed, I appologise to any who have genunily been diagnosed with depression and 'choose' to be emo but I know people who are depressed and none of them are 'emo', my mother suffers from depression and I have two friends that suffer from depression, I've know people who self-harm but don't openly admit it. Someone I talk to in an online game I play suffers from depression, he isn't 'emo' infact he finds the word insulting. If I don't understand emo, you don't understand freedom, agree? |

I am surrounded by "Emo" kids everyday at college, and was at high school too. They are an insult to people with real mental health issues. None of the "Emo" kids I have met or observed appear to have any "real" problems, they just seek attention. The people with real issues seem to dress just like "ordinary people", and if they have cut themselves they generally will not allow anyone to see or even know what they have done. "Emo-ism" should be banned. "Emo" is not a real music genre. All of the so called "Emo" bands can be catagorized into real genres, most commonly Punk Rock, Hardcore Metal, and Nu Metal. These genres and in most cases the bands themselves were around before the "Emo" fad was introduced. So no form of art will be prevented, just an attention seeking fashion statement. |

No offense to anyone, but emo is not a culture. Punk is not a culture. Preppy is not a culture, nerd is not a culture. Do not confuse culture with fads |

You say that as if it's a bad thing Tray. Being emo isn't healthy, which is something you have GOT to understand one day or you'll live a very sad and lonely life. And it is just a fad, just like the "gangsta" style a large portion of people follow. It's a persona taken upon one's self in order to deal with a situation and fit in with a group of people who have been through similar things in their life. |
