I mentioned this to Kyonko over Msn. And I think it could be a great way to try increase activity to the lesser used Serious Discussion. I was thinking we could hold a weekly debate on a subject from the news. Let's use the Olympics as an example. The participants (Everybody. Although it depends on what people think on sign ups and whatnot) will be divided into two teams. With a Nominated Captain. This Captain will voice the Idea of the teams. The debate will last 5 days. Giving enough time for a panel of judges (Staff, or nominated members.) to decide which team has defended their opinion best. Say the topic is: "Should *RandomCountry* have won the Gold Medal in *RandomSport*?" Team 1 argues that the Country shouldn't have won the medal. Team 2 disagrees. Team 2 will be the "Offending" team. While team 1 will be the "Defending" team. Team 2 will try to make team 1 unable to defend their point, while team 1 will try to make team 2 give up trying to best them. Prizes could be given to the winning team - Eliteship, their own "Winner" section or something. What does everybody think? |

Eliteship would mean elites can't enter in a way, you could make a winners topic though and that team goes on to face another team. |

Mmm right the prizes and rounds seem a little sketchy. However I believe there is a simple solution. |

You can keep bribing us with trophies you need to start handin' out stuff we can take home. Really i think something better than trophies is needed. Its not really that special. Maybe they can get put into a special member group for a week, one that would be like elites. |

Your right I'm a murderer; i kill people with a smile on my face, my parents say "what a disgrace" "get outta my face"...yet I walk away...with a smile on my face "If tall guys have this mystical advantage in jumping, then why to the tallest players in the NBA have the lowest verticals? Yao Ming can't jump over an egg roll" -it's so funny i had to put it in my sig | |

Trophies do get you something. I recall a competition in the past where the top category and gold was legendary status or something equivalent. It's a shame no one won that. |

I like the idea, besides its a forum not much you can do for prizes, trophies sounds good. And if this is accepted how will you figure out the panel? Cause I'd rather be in the panel raher than debate

I think you should pick a panel of three who won't take part in the event but will always judge it. |
