One of them was they gave Gohan a tail when he was born. However, they didn't give Trunks or Goten a tail at all. Goten and Trunks were just as much of a Sayain as Gohan was so why wouldn't they get a tail too? Ooooooops... |

Remember one thing and I believe I have said this before genes I think it is, aren't always passed on to everyone. Like for example if the father of the kid has lets say this fake disorder. Child A may get the fake disorder while Child B doesn't get it. Or Child A may not get it, but Child B will get it. So just change fake disorder into the tail. A second possibility is that it was cut off in birth to prevent them from ever going ape |

I seem to remember, that it was said that Goten and Trunks had their tails removed when they were born or something like that, to prevent them going Oozaru on everybody |

In episode 111, when Bulma shows trunks thay ask why don't he have a tail, and she answer he got it apurtated... |

In the time Gohan was born the only one that knew about the Oozaru transformation were Bulma, Yamcha, Roshi and a few others. Chi-Chi and Goku didn't know about it yet so they didn't see any harm in Gohans tail. After the saiyan saga pretty much everyone knew about the Oozaru transformation so when Goten and Trunks were born they got theres amputated at birth I think. |

I think a lot of the saiyan got their tail amputated at birth once everyone knew what happened during the full moon. I wonder what was Vegeta's say on Trunks Tail? |

Nope. Just watched that episdoe and Bulma didn't say anything about a tail. I assume Goten and Trunks got it removed at birth but it doesn't say anywhere in the episdoes that the tails were removed. About that genetics thing, that's a bunch of BS. This is a cartoon for crying out loud. All Sayains are born with tails. |

Exactly, and even before that I assumed that, that was the case, for Trunks Goten and Bra....I wonder about Pan though perhaps 1/4 is to diluted to have a tail at birth. |

Toriyama answered this question in an interview (first issue of Shounen Jump, the american adaptation of Jump! magazine) Apparently tails are "a recessive genetic trait."

but, thats a sayian blood trade mark?! recesive gene my foot. I want Akira to just admit he screwed up with continuity. it would put alot of debates to rest, and we could sleep better knowing "it dosn't make sense cause it wasn't supposed to/wasn't thought out all the way." that would make this all alot easier dont ya think? |

All Saiyans had a saiyan mother and father, where as Gohan, Trunks and Goten didnt. |
