Supposing Light succeeded, and the world was now under Kira's special brand of justice. What would happen if a couple decided that they would give their child literally no name on record in the unlikely event that there child might turn to crime or want to dedicate themselves to finding Kira? People would just prescribe nicknames, to them as they went on through life, would they essentially be immune do the death note, or would whatever name they identify with as belong to him or her, be their Akles' heel? |

now that would be interesting, cuz light would need a name to kill them a nickname is basically an alias, and that had already been tested when light tried to kill that FBI agent's wife the first time and didnt work, because she gave him her alias name |

That's an interesting question, and that would probably be the solution to defeating Light. Here's another question for you that someone once asked, what would happen if someone legally changed their name? |

Another question lol Let's say Light did the deal for the eyes (or an aquaintance of his) and looked at someone who had no name, what would they see? maybe someone with no name would be at the disadvantage as all Light has to is look at their face and write down a cause of death without stating a name, with the individuals face in mind (name not needed as their isn't one), or, they'd be invincible |

@ Sold Snake: i dont think that would matter, because its not an alias, same rules should apply, when u change ur name legally it become ur new, real, name. @ Light: u have to have a name to write down, that waz one big rule, u cant kill anyone without that persons name, one reason y it waz hard for Light to kill L, he didnt have his real name at first |

of course, but everyone must be eventually killed by a shinigami, which must mean that the shinigami found a way around killing people with no name, so there must be a way to kill them without using it. |

Ah I've wondered that myself, a couple of times which, in turn made me think of the silly question: that if Light wanted to kill superman would, he have to write down Clark Kent or Kal-El? What about Goku, Son Goku or Kakerrot? Both names are "legally" recognized in different places. Anyways, getting back to the question I'm thinking either, the first name on record they received at birth, or the one they identify with the most. If your name is John, but you change it to William because you're in the witness protection program or something you'll still think of yourself of John deep inside. A woman called Samantha Wilks might change her last name when she gets married to become Samantha Higs she'll think of herself as Higs because she excepts being identified with her husbands family as per our culture.
Of course but ordinarily giving a birth at home, and not putting your baby's name on record would be insanity, cruel even, no one in their right mind will go out of their way to keep their kid out of the system. Then again the world isn't being dominated by a self righteous megalomaniac who thinks himself the "god" of the "new word"....No offense Light.

Maybe those who were not given names would have a number in place of their name. Like a serial number for babies... |
