foo fighters
finger eleven

altho those 2 are muuuch less heavier
but how did i forget in my first post, RISE AGAINST!
rooooock big time
btw same here about hybrid, funny thing, i thought i would only get into 'in the end', cause i wasnt into that kind of music, turns out i got into all their songs!
oh, what about fort minor? or are you not into the hip-hop/rap feel?
and be sure to catch Dead By Sunrise! :)

Mike and Chester said they already started their new album material and real soon theyre gonna stop touring and really work on the new stuff, they said they'll release something by 09. its sooo exciting =)

sooorry everyone, but when Blackout and I talk about music in the same thread, a lot of our posts have to talk about LP haha

@ [Rainmaker]: Yeah Korn is great, very unique. Jonathan Davis is an amazing vocalist.

@ Light: Breaking Benjamin is good, but I can only get into a few of their songs.

@ Kotetsu: It sounds like some of their newer stuff I would be interested in, but their old stuff seams "too" screamo for my taste. At least, from the 30 second demos on iTunes I've heard.

@ Pineapple: I like Muse a lot. Knights of Cydonia is easily my favorite, but they do have other good ones too.

@ Apocalypse: Fort Minor is one of the few Hip-Hop/Rap bands I listen to. The combination of Styles of Beyond and Mike Shinoda just can't be beat. And of course, I've been dying to get my hands on DBS's album ever since I downloaded the Julien-K remix of Morning After. And as far as LP's new album goes, yeah, I read an article talking about how they're hoping for a quick "Minutes To Midnight follow-up album" which should come out next year. Awesome.

I like Rise Against, but Foo Fighters and Finger Eleven are just so-so for me. I love The Pretender by Foo Fighters, and Paralyzer by Finger Eleven, but a little too soft for my taste.

i can understand the last part, paralyzer sounded good to me, but when my brother asked me "did you check out the meaning behind it" and i said no not yet and he told me, it sounded so cheesy.
but, their older ones can be more hardcore, not screamo at all. Stay in Shadow for example.
oh and, just a little did you know kinda thing, you know nirvana's drummer is foo fighter's vocalist? thats how i got a little interested in them.

and yes, fort minor is the same case for me too, I think that Mike is so different than other rappers. I'm not saying rap sucks, proof, i love eminem so much, not my fav, but I still like him. And its because, just like Mike, they ALWAYS go with the flow, unless they're just joking around.

We made it is a good example of how Mike goes with the flow, and even though the others don't, i kinda connect with the song because of LP.

Do you have songs from DBS? I have let down and both versions of the morning after i think.
and if youre looking for another song by Chester, check out "system", I think he sang in it for a movie.

No I didn't know that, but he must be a pretty talented guy if he can sing and play the drums that well.

I like Eminem too, but there's something about Mike's rapping that just always sounds so much better. His words click so easily and he's always got a good rhythm going, just like you mentioned. Also, his raps are deep, but they make sense too. And of course, his lyrical masterpiece High Voltage (which I put in my sig) is just outstanding.

As for DBS, I've got the Julien-K remix of Morning After, and a live version of Let Down. I think that's it though. I have a lot of other songs Chester cameos in like Slow Ya Roll by Young Buck, Walking Dead by DJ Z-Trip, State of the Art by DJ Lethal, Home Sweet Home by Motely Crue, and System which was featured in the movie Queen of the Damned. All very good songs. Chester's voice just has this crazy ability to go through so many different emotions, which is why I'd label him my favorite vocalist of all time. He can go nice and slow with the ballads like in Leave Out All The Rest, add intensity to that like in Breaking The Habit, and just go all-out like Given Up and Faint.

I'm listening to Home Sweet Home right now! lol I was just about to ask you!
And omg so many things to say about those two, you would think a song like In Between would be so simple, but Mike is incredible with the words,(speaking about Mike, did you check out his new art style? i know were in music here so i wont go further) and Chester, ***** man, he can do everything.

What I've always told myself, is that Mike's singing is more for pumping you up, high Voltage, step up, bleed it out, his hip hop rap songs with FM and a lot of others. And he would also do some creepy ish singing like papercut, which i love. He did however sing really emotionally in songs like no roads left. high voltage is, well yes definitly, a masterpiece.
And Chester I find sings more emotionally, Breaking the Habbit, The Little Things Give You Away, Given up, etc. I mean, if someone doesnt think his singing in a song like Given up is emotional, then....like,.... o.O

sometimes i listen to songs like shadow of the day, leave out all the rest, then i listen to given up, he can literraly sing anything

To be completely honest, In Between is one of my least favorite LP songs (probably my overall least favorite actually). As far as slow songs go, it's not bad at all. But, I think it's just a little too repetetive. Great message within the song definitely, but I like their other ballads so much more. Mike does sing great in No Roads Left though, which I usually compare to What I've Done. They're both about the same as far as intensity goes, but Chester takes What I've Done while Mike takes No Roads Left in the same sort of style.

Part of the reason I love LP so much is because in Hybrid Theory and Meteora they had a formula. They'd have an incredible instrumental intro, then Mike would rap a verse and get you either pumped or energetic. Then, Chester would come out and sing the chorus which would make you only want to bounce. Then repeat with a verse, followed by a chorus. Then, Chester would *****in wail out a bridge like no other, but not too much to make it irritating. Then they'd close with a chorus and leave you feeling like "wow that song was the *****".

I think the perfect example is in A Place For My Head, when the same guitar line goes throughout the verses while Mike is rapping words than can only be considered a tounge twister, but nails it beautifully. And the bridge in that song is perfect. Chester starts out quiet and emotional, but by the end of it he's just letting the anger flow out with his screams. It's perfect. Although, no bridge is cooler than the 17.4-second scream in Given Up. Never before have I seen that done by any other band. Ever.

Blackout, I don't listen to any of the bands you listed, but Opeth and Dream Theater are two bands that I think anyone who likes rock music could get something out of.

They are both progressive rock bands, but Opeth combines forms of death metal and blues fusion along with the general progressive rock feel. But if you really don't like that dark growling sound then I would stay away from this band. If you are going to listen to anything they've done make sure the first album you hear is Blackwater Park

Dream Theater is more along the lines of progressive metal, and not much else besides a few soft rock songs. They play very fast, and have many long songs like almost all progressive rock bands.

I checked out Opeth, definitely doesn't seem like my kind of band.

Dream Theater sounds awesome so far though. I'm listening to some samples from Octavarium, and so far so good. And I like the length of the songs too. I hate it when a good song ends in 3 and a half minutes. Avenged Sevenfold used to be like that too before they went mainstream. Longer songs when they're good songs is always better. I might check these guys out.

I might sound girly here lmao, but i think you said that beautifully =]
And I'll admit to In Between not being the best of LP, but that's because its not really their type of song, altho, people that like slow songs will like this one. And My December too.
And that reminds me, LP's song structure.
They do a lot of, Intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus. Yet it never gets bad.
I love it when there's an intro to an album, Wake was fantastic, not too long or too short. Hahn's effects at the beginning would build up the tension along with Rob, and then it comes out so nicely.
Intensity wise, I can see how you compare the two, the structure is different, but they do sing nicely:)

Oh and might I add, how Qwerty is the golden song of Linkin Park, same guitar tuning and style. Mike singing so intense, Chester screaming really well. And the others making the song so heavy. Ya gotta love it.

I actually have Linkin Park's latest CD. forgot how I got it though, I know I didn't buy it. Anyways, I think it's their best CD. I was never into their head other banging *****... But I'll listen to it if I hear it. But Minutes to Midnight is one of the better compleye albums I've heard. It's songs are very consistent.. only Valentine's Day gets boring.

this is coming from someone who does not like Linkin Park.

@ .Punxx: Yeah I like Nickelback, actually. Animals and Next Contestant are both really good songs. If you've got more bands like that go ahead and post them. And in regards to your second post, I can see why you'd say that. MTM was much more mainstream, while hardcore LP fans like Apocalypse and myself were hooked with their "nu-metal" sounds of Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Either way, I love all the albums.

@ Apocalypse: I always love Mr. Hahn's work. Session and Cure For The Itch are both really great pieces, and Wake is an awesome intro, and so fitting for MTM. And of course I must agree, QWERTY is awesome. I was really disappointed it didn't make it on the album with its rumored label "Behind Your Lies", but it's still a great song nonetheless. Chester's screams are once again flawless, and Mike's rapping is top notch as well.

@ [Rainmaker]: Cool, I'll check 'em out. ;)

@ Akutabi Gamma: Shoot, sorry bro I totally missed your post. I'll check those bands out when I check out the ones that [Rainmaker] suggested and let you know what I thought.
