Rockstars, what happened?

There was a time when Rockstars were known to the public as the party animals who smoked crack and robbed 2 girls a night, and were strong animals. Now I see picture of little skinny kids who wear pink scarves with hair covering their face and are above all pacifists and vergetarians! What happened to the good old rock star!? Steve Tyler! Billy Idol!.. Jin Morrison!?

The Age of Rock will return. It's been here since the early 50's...Once people started affording instruments after the war. Rock will always be here. There's light rock now. But some Metal bands are still around. Metallica and Iron Maiden. When I get old enough, I will be a part of it. Not for myself or anybody else. The music needs to live on. And I'd love to be a part of it.

Yo

the present Metallica, IMO, aren't that great, but then i was never a massive Metallica, the old Iron Maiden were brilliant

Music is constantly changing, what's big today will probably be forgotten tommorow, and that's a problem, the music of today is rarely memorable, along with the skinny kids and pink scarves

I'd just like to make a quick correction here...
Most rock stars from many decades ago were also vegetarians and pacifists, so if you think rock stars are now that way, then they haven't really changed.

In fact, rock music has always been a powerful weapon to critique wars and violence, and bring different people together, no matter the age, culture, or style, in order to fight for peace and freedom.

It is true, though, that the hardcore ways of being a rockstar have changed throughout the years, but that's normal considering the times have also changed and we're living in a different era where people care a lot more about looks and the sex appeal of musicians, rather than their talent and dedication to music.

On the other hand, we got the indie scene, that seems to be very popular nowadays and brought to us some great bands with an original rock-ish sound.

I remember the days when bands like "The Who" would trash up hotel rooms and smash guitars on stage. Or when "Axl Rose" would start riots. :D
