As far as I know, GTA San Andreas included sex, didn't it? And it came out nontheless. That means that those ratings are pretty inefficient..
yes and its rated m for mature so kids cant buy it am I not right?

So what you are saying is that if for example a game came out promoting rape then it would be okay to put it on the market, if a kid buys it, it's the perants falt. You don't belive that there should be some form of protection there for everybody? I mean really, some censorship is fine, but other times it can be silly.
thats what the ESRB ratings are for and they wouldnt let a game come out soly promting rape ty very much.
The point is being used as an example keep that in mind

Nah, but it included a high amount of violence... I mean, the whole game was about being the biggest gangster ever.... I don't call that a role-model.

Yeah, but there are worse things in GTA. Like Shooting random people in the street. Stealing Police cars for money. And promotion of Drugs.

I don't like GTA that much. Too violent.

But things like Mortal Kombat also promote violence. But I think that MK does it in a sort of humourous way. And the moves are pretty much impossible. Unless you can make Lightening strike somebody or freeze them

Here are some censored games: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banned_video_games

Some with some decent reasons, others maybe silly, one example which shows what sort of games can be censored, other games get bans overturened or correct the problem, all the same though.

The Guy Game: Censored due to revealing a minor's breasts.

I think we can agree censoring that was a good thing, I mean it is kind of sick to put that in a game.

I'm not saying all censors are right, but some are.

Thats just sick they should have sued the company that made the Guy's Game. And good Point Kyonko some censors are good, others are pointless. Like censoring a game for sexuality when its rating is probbably xxx as it is. But stuff like minor's breasts, rape should be censored

Ah, GTA.. a controversial yet great game. GTA 4 also uncludes sex for the record. What a typical GTA game includes would be. Drugs, Alcohol, Suggestive themes(sex), Blood, Intense Violence, Set in a more real than fantasy environment. Although the game is rated M 17+.. anybody ever thought why it isn't rated 18+.. as the legal adult age in all of North America is anywhere between 18-21.

10 year old kids can find a way to buy games.. sometimes more than not though. Once I myself was buying a GTA game for a relative of mine, as he was under age. The thing I see is.. it's just a game, it's not alcohol.. it's not a drug, it's just fun and games. Despite robbing cars, which I'd be furious if it happend to me in real life, doing it on a game is just as colorful as watching Sponge Bob cheat on his driving test.

People can become addicted to games though, lmao, but there are images on some games that shouldn't be there and some actions in games that shouldn't be promoted, things like violance and drugs though, the games are aimed at adults who should know what's right and what isn't, kids are more suggestable, hence the whole rating system.

There are also other forms of media like films/music/tv and so forth which get censored for verious reasons. As I say, some are blatantly right like censoring stuff with parts of minors, or anything else that shouldn't be shown.

I find it funny that Germany banned games for Nazi References.

These games should still be sold. Just not in a gaming retail environment. Every country has it's laws about pornographic material, so why can't they just sell pornographic or explicitly violent video games in porn shops?
I find it wrong to just prohibit media of the sort all together simply because it doesn't fit the general standards of the public.

I think generally though things get censored for breaching a countries laws not for what people think, they might get banned for a while because the public don't agree with the game, but generally that can be lifted. I'm not saying I agree with all banning of things but there are things that should never reach the market, that's what I am saying, you agree with that statment?

Speaking of which, China banned "Football Manager" because it included Tibet as an independant country. That is funny. Some kids are more mature than others, some adults are less mature than kids.. some adults act like kids! Then again, no doubt there should be a rating system.. Well to be honest, the rated M wouldn't hurt being reduced 1 year of age. Most people enjoy their video games younger than older. The older you get the less attention you should pay to chronic video games I guess.

Yes but countrys like China will censor anything that goes against the govenment, so you know, that isn't right because it's blocking peoples accsess to a whole lot of information that's out there.
