I'm sure alot you, hands down listen to covers of songs, in which the song is sung lyric for lyric with a slightly different sound to it.

Wish you Were Here, formerly by Pink Floyd

This is a great cover seeing as the natural sound of pink floyd (mellow sounding) is still kept, although the singer incorporates his own routine while singing the song.. without loosing Pink Floyd's touch to it, and even crediting them during the song.

to me, thats' what you call respect.

So what do you want discussing here? I mean I don't see anything wrong with covers and I do belive the original artist or there family do get money from it. There are some which aren't really great too, but eh.

Yes. I can't remember their latest cover, but Foo Fighters will do a few covers here and there. Especially live for kicks. Here is one of them playing "Band on the Run."

Edit: I found it.

Band on the run.

They usually sing it good, if not better than the original.

I dunno, I like the original Baker Street better, as for Band on the Run, I don't think I've heard the original.

Uniting Nations - Ai No Corrida is a cover of the version by Quincy Jones

I don't really enjoy most covers. Unless they add something interesting to the song, or change it's structure completely (Joe Cocker's "With a Little Help from My Friends" is a great example), I really have no interest.

Wouldn't you say a diffrent style of singing changes it?

Sure it will. Doesn't mean I will like it, unless that style of singing some how suits the song better.
