Yeah, I was pretty worried about how close it would be too. It was hard for me to tell living in a "red" state (in a "blue" city).

I'll tell you what though, I'm disgusted with some people and there reactions to Obama winning. I was looking at my facebook and people were saying things about how "scared" they were and how they needed to "pray for the country even more" because "yay communism". People can be so ignorant. Obama isn't communist. He isn't a devil worshiper. He isn't a terrorist. He is an American, just like the rest of the country. He has most of the same morals and beliefs that everyone else has. Is it all just a race thing? I don't get it. It seriously makes me mad.

I'm kinda of the same except I live in a Blue State, Red County. So I kinda wanna leave the county just cuz i know so many people are gunna be a bit pissed LOL. My parents voted for McCain and most of my friends voted for him too. I feel a bit lonly lol and scared but oh well. I'm just glad it's over and we can all move on and just wait to see what comes next.

I couldn't agree more. I was hoping that most of those people would pipe down a bit after losing an election they were so sure they would win. I thought it would humble them a little. But I was wrong they are just so stubborn.

I live in a "blue" state in a slightly "red" county, but at least people around here know how to lose graciously. They probably just won't talk about it at all for a while.

My father is a democrat and my mother is a republican, so naturally I have no party affiliation. But I am very thrilled that Obama won, and I am very greatful to have witnessed such an historic event as well as participated in it by voting (my first time).

It would be disaterous/hilarious if something significant happened on his first day of office. Significant as in something big enough to stir up the country/world. I hope not, but just imagine

Oh scary! Be careful what you say.

Just for comparison sake, any one in y'alls parts of the world talking about how "he's going to get assassinated"?

Not that they are planning it, just that they think it will happen. A lot of people here are pretty convinced that will be the case.

That's whats scary about it. And it's always the best ones that get killed. I swear it should be the opposite. <_<

But we're living in a society now, where protection is pretty much tight after the incidents of 9/11. I'm pretty sure there will be an assassination attempt, but most likely it will fail. Security around him is going to be tight as hell. Which is good.

Here's my thoughts on the skin head groups. The members that are plotting the attacks are usually the younger members who make the most mistakes. It's not the older members who are more wise, and make the younger members do the dirty work while they sit back and get rich on their entry fees.

In which case, The KKK of today, may not succeed. However they may have succeeded before the 70's. Most of the members then were white southerners who owned farms and had friends as judges and lawyers.
Racial Hostility is almost gone in America. People just still hold on to their opinions here in the south. There is rarely any hate crimes committed here.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

I doubt Obama will be assassinated. 20 Days until he is inaugurated. I campaigned for Barack Obama and went door to door, made thousands of phone calls. I can't say I'm proud of myself but one of the people I recruited said to my mom, "You really have a dynamic son... he inspired so many adults to contribute to a worthy cause." Truly, I felt humbled, but, never could I feel more humbled to see my efforts shine through in such a way. I guess I feel a little bit more proud to be an American, with the challenges ahead, I hope that helps our country and our new President succeed, at least, maybe, if we all have a little hope.
