As we may or may not all know, the US economy is falling. Some say it will end in recession. Prices for everything have increased due to fuel costs and transportation of goods. In 2001 the price of fuel in Texas averaged 1.50$ a gallon. Today it stands at 3.90$. Every consumer across the world is actually hurting from the rising prices except those who live at the heart of the oil industry, (middle east). Car companies are struggling to make a change due to lobbyists from the fuel industry bribing car manufacturers into keeping the combustion engine. Many people also believe that the spending in Iraq is causing the economy to slump. Who's fault is it? |

I knew the economy in the U.S has been plunging for a while.. although since the Canadian dollar (at one point) surpassed the American, which was more/less October of 2007, I thought you've been in recession.
Same here, the price of gas in 2001 was maybe around the 70 cent range (per Litre) now it's barley hitting 1.50$. Which is a big deal. Living in Canada, I believe it is very important to buy American products. Most notably cars. With the American economy close to recession, why are Canadians still buying Japanese cars!? By buying American products, it will give the GNP of America a boost. For Canadian citizens it is not good if the Canadian dollar trades any where from 90 cents American or higher. Why? Because, if the Canadian dollar ever gets to expensive Canadian exporters may get 'hurt', as Americans will stop buying from Canadian manufacturers. Without the American buyers, Canada is a ***** in the toilet, seeing as about 65% of Canadian trades are dealt with the U.S.A. off topic: of course if the Canadian dollar is to weak, Canadian importers will be hurt.. a good rate of exchange would be 0.80$-0.85$ Cdn = 1.00$ USA Edited by .Punxx, Jul 2 2008, 03:13 PM.

My mom owns her own small buisness this is the slowest it's been in all of 17 years she's had it. It's been pretty rough... we even had to sell off one of the two stores she owned. |

That's not appropriate or very intelligent. Try explaining why he is an asshole before calling him one. |

This is funny, cause I brought up this point two days ago on another forum saying the economy was failing since every thing's price is going up. The dollar lost a lot of value, and its getting harder and harder to find jobs. Yet the person responded that the economy was decent, it was actually more good than worst |

George W. Bush and Iraq. Honestly, our dollar is STILL worth less than the Canadian dollar [it's true.] I'm thinking about moving to Canada. $1.50 for gas?! Hell yeah! Guess what else they're giving away? HEALTH INSURANCE!!!!!! That is, if McCain is elected President. Edited by Sam, Jul 3 2008, 04:48 AM.

Its your fault gambit But seriously, its mainly Bush, and dont say im just blaming him because he's the man in charge. We are spending way to much on Iraq, and not enough here. If we took some time from Iraq to focus on Afghanistan, I would be okay with that, Afghanistan needs a little more attention than Iraq, who never should have got any attention. |
