We've all heard the sayin, "opposites Attract" but does that mean the people who have so many things in common can't be together in the end, must the disagree, must they not by the same? If your a guy/girl which would you want in a relationship and which do u think works and is meant to be........Opposites Atract? OR U Have A Lot In Common? i might edit this post if i need to give people a better understanding of what i mean, but post, What do u think? |

Well this sure is a tough question. Pros Of Opposites together -You get to learn new things -Get to try new things Cons -May not like the new things -May disapprove with many of the things -Disagreements in believes As for in common Cons -May seem a little boring at times Pros -Can do stuff together that you both enjoy -even though you have many things in common there can always still be a lot of things to learn about each other -Have same believes that lead to less arguments (don't get me wrong some arguments are healthy but if you are always arguing that's not healthy at all) So it really depends on what kind of person you are and what are your tastes |

Opposites dont attract, i have a girl friend who is the complete opposite of me and we dont attract as good as other couples; opposites do not attract. if ur opposite with some1 for example ill tell my gf "hey the Giants won the superbowl" she'll go "i dont give a *****" she'll say "u wanna go shoipping w/ me" i'll tell her "u do that ***** w/ ur fag-it frends, not me" while if ur not opposites u can share many moments w/ ur loved one. then again me and my gf were never romantic so we dont give a sh-t about sharing the romantic moments such as waching the sunset together or taking a hike in the woods, so i guess being opposites isnt to bad PERSONALLY. the only common we share is that we both watch hockey lmao. so there you have it, 99% of the time it is better not being opposites, in the long term opposites do not attract, its a fact. look @ married couples, they either agree on everything, or if they're opposites you'll get a couple like Ray Barone and Debra, and you know that if you ever seen Everybody Loves Raymond they do not attract. Althoughn it is a television show it is based on real life situations. |

Ditto. Opposites do not attract. In fact, studies show that people that look alike them (of the opposite gender) they are more attracted to. A college professor took images of some of his male students and transformed them into female faces and put them amongst super-model faces. Every one of them was more attracted to their female selves, and they didn't even know who those girls were (themselves as girls) nor that the procedure was being done! It goes deeper though, and that's when opposites DO attract. Some girls were given sweaty t-shirts to smell of guys (weird, I know) and the guys with immune systems opposite of their own "smelled better" to the girls. The reason for this is, if the two individuals "mated" the "offspring" would have a stronger base immune system as it has the strengths of both, let's say the father's immune system is good at resisting cancer and the common cold, yet weak with the flu, yet hers is good with the flu and she is prone to cancer. They interconnect and it sorts out many of the weaknesses. Personality-wise, as long as they're not a *****ing douche bag they should be okay.

When it comes to science and love/relationships, I separate them because it cannot explain a mysterious phenomenon. There are scientists, who will say that love is a chemical reaction in the brain, and I refuse to agree with that nonsense. It takes more than a chemical reaction to experience true love. It all depends on the situation and the person. Some do fall for someone that has opposing opinions, however, there are limits to how "opposite" the two individuals are. In order for opposites to pursue a relationship, both need to have a mutual understanding and respect for their partner's views. Also, they may need to compromise more. For example, if a girl hates football because she may not understand it, but her boyfriend loves it, she can attempt to learn more about the game, thus, building a bond with her partner. Relationships that are based off of common interests are good, but I think having different interests can help boost the bond. It can be an adventurous experience for either side. Conversely, some people are unwilling to change their ways, which makes it difficult for opposites to remain together. |

Very very true, my friends basically proved that. Although some may find it weird to be attracted to someone that could possibly be related to you in someway being that they look EXTREMELY alike... It's part of human nature, because I guess we're conceited like that? Me, I'm more attracted to people who I actually have something in common with. If there's no chemistry, or you have absolutely NOTHING in common, it's going to take alot to make that relationship work, cause honestly, I wouldn't have the patience for it to make it work. |

My thoughts exactly. I'll say this, the only thing that would get me to date a Christian, is if I knew it would lead to sex. Call me shallow, but i've made my point no matter how much I shouldn't have said that.

I love your straight-forward, down to Earth, "don't beat around the bush" answers, Gambit. AHDS: Love is a chemical reaction, IMO. There is no reaction in your heart. Your heart pumps blood. Everything comes from your brain. That's just my scientific opinion. Maybe it says something different in the Bible or from another group of Scientists or something that I don't know about, so, maybe I'm wrong. It's just an opinion then [my comment]. |

You can never really tell though. Sometimes it's just not all about the opposite thing and all of that it depends on how the coulpe feel in their relationships. Is one of the partners willing to put forth the effort to go out and do things? Like I said you can never know. |

Wow, all this makes me wonder the level of relationships all of you have had. And even more so, how you dealt with them. I don't mean to offend anyone (but I probably will) but from my life experiences and being an actual relationship councilor, a lot of you seem to have no idea what it means to be in a relationship or what n actual relationship is. However, I could be wrong but that's what it looks like to me. |

I'd say that Opposites do not attract. Its like of those old stories that you hear about a boy and a girl that are horrible to each other at school but secretly love each other. Thats just a story that is a complete lie and the person who invented it fails. On the other hand, people that have a lot in common are likely to become best friends and therefore the bond between them gets stronger, especially when you find that you have a lot more in common with them. |
