I have been a long time user of gmail. Every once in a while they'll come up with something new that will just wow me. So I have always been able to talk to my friends through Gmail messenger system on the left side, assuming they also had gmail. It was a way around my Office and it's rules against installing IM systems. But it limited me to people that only had gmail. I log on this morning and it says, now you can talk to people using your aim account. And so I went.  I will never need another Instant messaging program again. Look here for the history of my IM usage:All Links are free AIM/ Yahoo/MSN - ads, warning system, viruses Trillian - No adds, ability to log on with all systems at the same time, can have multiple names up at the same time. Meebo - Java based console for firefox, can only sign on to one name at a time, using one system. Gmail - Email, messenger, and portal to everything google in one shot. Huge memory base. so with meebo you can only use one im service at a time? |

I find Trillian annoying as well as not being able to keep open while I play a game, it also limits your list if you have over so many buddies. I use Pidgin, have done for a while now, I can keep it open while I play a game. Not tried googles though, but I'm fine with Pidgin for now. |

I think AIM has gotten better in service. new AIM 6 is pretty good. MSN and Yhaoo pretty much stayed the same, but i think MSN just got alot of little features that can be fun. |
