What are everyone's views on piracy? i.e. Copied DVDs, illegally downloading movies/TV Shows etc.

Personally I don't condone piracy at all. When I first got the internet I did quit a bit of illegal downloading such as movies and tv shows as well as music obviously. But since then I've really cut down. Now I just download music. And even then it's really only usually an album that's other-wise incredibly hard to get a hold of.

I especially have absolute 0 respect for people who produce/distribute illegal DVDs. IMO this is one of the worst crimes in the world. As a film maker myself, I humbly respect the amount of work that goes into making blockbuster movies, and it literally makes me sick when I hear about people who can't even be bothered to pay £5/$10 to go to the cinema.

Yea piracy isn't good, I didn't know what it was an I've downloaded so much music but now I don't cuz its wrong, Ive never done dvds or movies or anything but I know not to do it. It's illegal so try not to do it no matter how tempting it is.

I'm not even tempted anymore. The writers strike is proof of the damage it can have on the industry.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

Sometimes, it's not a big deal. Sometimes, it is. I don't download music, I used to, I don't anymore. I buy it off of iTunes. As well as TV Shows. I used to download DVD's, not anymore. I deleted them all, though, I never distributed them. Only watched once then cleared it off. Now I buy almost everything. I think it's fine, but, people shouldn't go maniac on it.

Pirates are smart. Why spend money and space and time on whole albums if you only like 1 song from 50 Cent?

To support the artist.

That's why there is iTunes you can buy individual songs for only 99 cents.

Why am I underlining tons of crap? Lol.

LOL.. do you really have to support an artist who probably makes a living off his concerts alone. And anyways, with the launchof piracy, originals have gone up in price. About Itunes, there's easier stuff to go through rather than supporting the artist.

back to the 50 Cent, why should I support him if i don't like him, I only like 1 song?

Then you buy that 1 song instead of disrepecting him and downloading it.

The birth of binary and digital logic gave way to piracy. Today, there isn't a single thing in electronic form you can't find for free or copy in some way.
I see it as no ones fault. But I do figure that the industry needs to find a different way to sell or protect their media.

LMAO.

okay anyways, yeah these bands know that the music indstry is going down. And frankly unless there's a crack down every pirate in the world, people will continue pirating music. Okay, buy it on Itunes for 0.99$ one song, two songs, before you know it fifteen songs will pile up. So you just wasted 15$

respecting
musicians instead of buying that college book you need.

On that note, these musicians know the music industry is suffering with these ipods and mp3's. Did you know the band Radiohead gave away one of their albums for FREE on the net. Anyways, if you like a band so much the only respect you can give them is going to their concerts, because that's basicly what they rely on nowadays.

I still have trouble beliving how music stores are alive, I don't know what the laws are in the U.S but in Canada everyone downloads music HAHA

Radiohead didn't give there album for free, they let the buyer pay whatever the price they wanted to pay for it. Or so I heard in an interview, I could be wrong.

With music I don't care, artists really don't make that much from CD sales due to the high amount of illegal downloads anyway, they make most of it from concerts. There are only a few artists that I buy Cd's from store, Like Linkin Park.
