Should sex offenders be castrated? If you do not know what castration is, it is when one's genitals are removed.

I'll add my opinion later.

Yo

if they misuse it, they lose it!

umm, peadophiles, rapists who are definitely guilty should be, imo, should not be castrated, instead use a spray which renders the sexual organs useless but is reversable, this is mainly because if we start mutilating our prisoners then how far will we go

The sex offender word has such a wide range of descriptions these days. Simply touching a woman's chest is sexually offensive.
So I say no, because of the word usage. However, rape, as a proper term I'd be much more obliged to incline to such a punishment for them.

I'm basically talking about the more serious types of sex offenses such as rape or child molestation.

No, they shouldn't.

They should be taken to court and tried, and let justice be served as it should.

If you want to castrate them, you'll be just as inhuman and monstrous as they are.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

The constitution states "No cruel and unusual punishment". I stand by that. It's just barbaric. How about the electric chair or 70 years in prison?

The psychological damage that is done to a person, who is sexually offended, is unmeasured by any physical pain one can manifest. I believe in castration because most sexual offenders, who are released from prison, are REPEATED offenders.

This was performed in the early 1920's to rapists. There was a decrease in crime rates and repeated offenses. Since science has advanced from those ages, there are medications specifically designed to castrate a man/woman, therefore, they do not feel pain. It is not like they are getting body parts chopped off.

You think castrating someone will stop them offending, sure, kill there sex drive, they have hands, and other body parts they can use to sexually molest someone.

The urge doesn't come from the sex organ, its psychological.

Indeed. Most sexual offenders do it for dominance and because they are crazy, not because one day they're taking a car ride home from work and going, "Wow, I'm horny, I think I'm gonna go rape someone." I think if they're repeat offenders they should just STAY in Jail.

None of you read what I said. No body parts would be chopped off. They would be given medication to aliminate their hormones, which they do to female dogs.

True.

But it wouldn't stop them from repeating anyway.

Ah-ha!! I get it now.

Castration

Removal or destruction of the testicles or ovaries using radiation, surgery, or drugs. Medical castration refers to the use of drugs to suppress the function of the ovaries or testicles.

Before now, I have always just associated Castration with having your boy's cut off.

However this leads me to a different conclusion of the same conclusive decision. So let me put this in a very very simple format.

"The spayed female dog still humps another to show a form of domination if the condition to do so exists."

So simply removing, (surgically or by non-intrusively) will not change the psychological state of a persons mind.

Or for example, I'll use myself. *gasp* :o_O:
I have been thinking of getting a vasectomy for some time now. I have made the ultimate decision that I simply do not want kids. I am of the age to make such a decision, and I believe this will help my sex life. Inhibiting the reproduction organ will simply keep me from having children, not humping for domination. <--- lolz

Hit the nail on the head. I like the person analogy you used. You see, most of them would still rape, waste of money. Castration would do little aside from making them unable to use their sexual organs to rape (they can use a lot of other things too, without going into detail), and ultimately just waste money. Rapists are mentally ill, they do it for dominance and because of mental illness, I know this confidentally more then most people, and I can bet on a good note more than most if not all of you posting in this topic because my mom works with sex offenders and people with mental illnesses, and I've heard myself that they do this because they feel that, "voices tell them to" or they feel weak and must do it to be strong, and because they are depressed, a variety of reasons.

None of these are because they are horny and want to go bang someone off the street. These people need help psychologically, not have their sexual organ destroyed physically or forced to eat pills with chemicals in them so all that it's good for is to urinate. That won't help, that'd waste money and probably make them want to do it MORE because as I said, some do it out of craziness and this sometimes stems from depression, I'd be depressed too if I lost my wang. These people need treatment in a secure mental health facility like the places my mom works at, they take pills which suppresses their urge to rape and do harm to other people, while they are counseled and set back out into society slowly, starting simple like taking a walk with someone who works at the facility they are at, and even to the point where they can get jobs at places like Wal-Mart or McDonalds and even get a car again. It can work, it has worked. Instead of ineffectively destroying them sexually, how about give them their lives back? A lot of them are really nice successful people, once they are helped. This is what they need, not odd forms of cruel punishment. :)
