lol you guys sure like that movie, it was ok, the reflection and when the alien was on top of the roof were the only things that sort of spooked me, the parody of it on scary movie 3 is hilarious anyways, it's funny how people tend to believe in aliens when there's no evidence, but they don't believe in god because there's no evidence, |

1) The number of galaxies. An estimated 50 billion galaxies are visible with modern telescopes and the total number in the universe must surely exceed this number by a huge factor, but we will be conservative and simply double it. That's 100,000,000,000 galaxies in the universe. 2) The number of stars in an average galaxy. As many as hundreds of billions in each galaxy. Lets call it just 100 billion. That's 100,000,000,000 stars per galaxy. 3)The number of stars in the universe. So the total number of stars in the universe is roughly 100 billion x 100 billion. That's 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars, 10 thousand, billion, billion. Properly known as 10 sextillion. And that's a very conservative estimate. 4) The number of stars that have planetary systems. The original extra-solar system planet hunting technology dictated that a star needed to be to close to us for a planet to be detected, usually by the stars 'wobble'. Better technology that allows us to measure the dimming of a stars brightness when a planet crosses its disk has now revolutionised planet hunting and new planets are being discovered at an ever increasing rate. So far (August 2003) around 100 have been discovered so we have very little data to work on for this estimate. Even so, most cosmologists believe that planetary formation around a star is quite common place. For the sake of argument let us say it's not and rate it at only one in a million and only one planet in each system, as we want a conservative estimate, not an exaggerated one. That calculation results in: 10,000,000,000,000,000 planets in the universe. Ten million, billion, as a conservative estimate. 5) The number planets capable of supporting life. Let's assume that this is very rare among planets and rate it at only one in a million. Simple division results in: 10,000,000,000 planets in the universe capable of producing life. Ten billion! Taken from http://www.thekeyboard.org.uk/Extraterrestrial%20life.htm Hmm, ten billion Earths, ahh, such a large number, our puny brains can't even suggest at the faintest of this size, and yet, they are all empty, or contain little more than bugs and we humans as Yankees said are the masterminds of the entire universe? Most of us just sit on our asses and watch TV all day, and we are the almighty knowledge of all hellborn existence. Such an ignorant answer in my opinion. They exist, they've been here, statistics *****ing BLOWWWWWWWW all the skeptics into a *****hole of *****ing nothingness. ***** ***** ***** ***** *****. I swore that many times so I could see all the *****'s in my post to intimidate you, it probably worked. I hope ye took no offense, my little snowflake. Saying we're the only "REAL" intelligent life in the universe is like planting thousands of seeds in a cornfield (or, in this case, tens to hundreds of billions) and expecting only one to grow. |

Your statistics prove nothing more than theres a lot of planets out there it doesntr prove that there other other smarter or any life form at all, therefore I can't be called ignorant for stating something that's not proven. Cause I could post a whole lot of statistics to say why religion isn't real but in the end, I cannot prove it. |

Even though it hasnt been proved it must be possible that there is other life, I mean the universe is said to be endless isnt it? with a limitless number of galaxies. |

As far as I know they haven't yet found any conclusive evidence of life on Mars yet. There are plenty of indicators suggesting it but none of the robotic explorations have detected life directly yet.
She's watching all the good ones obviously. ![]() Anyway just to elaborate a bit on Corrupt[ed]'s point here's a website that gives you a good idea of just how big the universe really is.
Actually the burden of proof would be on them but thats a whole other debate. As for my views there's no reason to think that simple lifeforms don't exist outside out own little solar system, they may even be a common thing. However the big issue is if there is intelligent life within our reach. A lot has to go right for a species to develop intelligence and thrive on a planet and the frequency that it can happen is up in the air. But since I'm running seti@home on my desktop I obviously think there's a possibility of something in the neighborhood. |

I believe in aliens, but I do not believe they have the mental capacity to reach our universe. We don't, so I doubt they possibly could. |

I think the question should be how can you not believe in aliens? The universe is so vast that for someone to believe there is only one planet with life forms on is just stupid. Like someone said previously, it is almost certain that they exist. They may not have necessarily visited, or ever will for that fact. We may never even see them because they are so far away, but they are definately there. |

"Then you've got the chance to do better next time." "Next time?" "Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is." | |

I saw that like at 10-11 years old. It was so cool I was on summer break and I watched with my cousins and uncle around midnight and I was so freaked out
Another part that scared me was around the beginning and the father goes to see his daughter at night, he looks outside and sees a man standing on a house... with the viollin that was perfect.
