I felt the need to change my avatar and signature when my HHship stops so here it is. With the help of some DF's tutorials. Comments and ratings please. :)

It's a nice attrempt at DarkFlare's tutorials, but you have some negative elements you could have fixed.
The left side of the background looks immense compared to the part where the render is located, which obviously gives the whole sig a plain look.
I particularly don't like that the render's colors are the same as the background's. It looks like you put the render's colors on inverse, which is not quite of my taste.

The effects you used to blend the render with the background are nice and advanced, good work on that, but I think they are a bit too visible.

Text is too big, the render should always be the focus of your sig, but the text is standing out more than the render here. Basically the sig is too big for the render, if you had done it smaller you would have avoided these kind of problems.

It's a pretty decent piece, though. Keep working. ;)

Thanks for the comments and tips. When I look at the sig now after a couple of hours, I am beginning to notice some of the things you've pointed out.

Actually, I have inverted the colors of the render :p.

Gotcha, I should've made the sig a bit smaller.

Well I was practicing that all night, and I think I got the hang of it, except - 1) I was too lazy to redo the whole thing once I figured out how to do ripple; 2) It's a bit harder for me to produce that effect because there is no Ocean Ripple filter in GIMP (one of the very few things GIMP lacks compared to Photoshop).

You think so? Doesn't look too big to me; I've tried smaller and it's too small and well, bigger wouldn't be too good I guess :p.

All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with this sig, I think it's my best one so far. It has room for improvement, sure, but it's still a nice sig. Nothing spectacular, but nice.

Again, thanks for the comments Pinneaple, they were very useful. I'd like to see more comments please, don't be shy, you can only help me improve ;).

.: Changing Everything :.

I think the way you used the ripple over Goku opens up a new way of blending, I have to try that myself. :p

Your text could use some work though and the right part looks kinda empty. Try to add deoth to you signature by adding texture to the background.

Wow, to get such a comment from someone like you is truly an honor  The best way to describe what I was going for would be: Goku SS3 diving out of his own rippled body :p.

Thanks for the comments, BTW I have added some cloud texture, maybe it's hard to notice but you would definitely see it missing if if I removed it.

To be honest I seriously think that its your best yet, the blending is quite good. I would of found goku's fac weird but when i zoom out and look at the whole piece everything fits ;)
The white spots are my favorite part, sems like he's really comin out of water.
why'd you put text near goku? Sorry if someone mentionned it already I'm too lazy to read hehe.
Nice job on the higlights and shadows. Altho, is that a lens falre on the left I see? If it is, I wouldn't recommend it ;) It might brighten up things but the quality is usually bad. So Use any colour on a hilghly contrasted mode, I think that would be better.
Not bad at all you're getting better. ;)

It makes me all warm inside to hear such praises from an artist like you DF. Thank you.

About the small text, it's just a little text brush I've used to give the sig a slightly cooler feel :p, like some predator-like creature is scanning Goku SS3 and his visor shows some info on him  (might look a bit obsolete with the feedback moderator added though)

The light on the left is the gradient flare set to low opacity - the sig looked kind of empty without one; even though there is one where Goku's diving out, it doesn't really serve the purpose of a flare IMO ^_^.

Again, glad you like it, I also think this is my best work yet (no matter what do people think about it) - partly because I wasn't following any tutorials step by step (I have only consulted your tuts a couple of times though :p) but applied the GIMP knowledge I've gathered so far. Anyway, I'm getting too pathetic, I should stop lol.

P.S. Thanks for the tip on the color/contrasted mode, I'll use it in some of my next sigs.
