The rival 's boost is the icing on the cake, it isn't some astronomical boost as some are implying. |

Injecting numbers into a Vegetto argument is possibly the worst thing you can possibly do. The official Potara fusion formula is large quantities of ducktales and forces you to make a variable for rival boost that you can pull out of thin air with no explanation. All the evidence points to Gogeta being massively inferior to Vegetto. Such as, Goku's statement about him being surprised he was able to make such a fool out of Boohan, or Old Kai's statements. |

Rival boost is the main key to Vegito's Extreme power .... even a 2-3x boost is enough |

It's not the main key, it's simply an add-on. It's emphasized the least out of all the reasons Vegetto is so strong.

Just out of interest and because I'm not as hot on DBZ stuff as you guys are, what is a rival boost? Is this actually a thing or is it a hypothetical thing or what? |

Rival boost is extra strength gained in a potara fusion when 2 rivals use them to fuse. It's never stated how big this boost is. |

Is it stated in the show or manga though? Cuz I don't really know/remember. I'm not entirely sure why it'd make you stronger at all really because how are a pair of earrings meant to tell two people apart? :X By which I mean, the power has got to come from the people involved not the actual fusion technique itself.

Chapter: 504 (DBZ 310), P9.2-3 Context: as Vegetto beats up on Gohan-absorbed Boo Kaioshin-Kibito: “H-he’s strong!!! Majin Boo there is helpless!!! To think that merging with the Potara would be this incredible…!!” Elder Kaioshin: “Idiot, it’s because it was those two that they were able to go so far. Two of the top 3 masters in both the living world and afterlife have merged, after all. What’s more, two rivals have joined together. That’s definitely strongest.” Yep, it's stated, but as Clearin mentioned, how big the boost itself is, is never stated. IMO, Fusion Multiplication/Rival Boost is an unquantifable mess. |

That's the best part about Potara, you can literally use "it's magic" as a real explanation. Same reason I use for Vegetto surviving being turned into chocolate. |

Yeah but hang on, if you can say the potara earrings are just magic then surely the same applies to fusion dance. That's magic too XD |

I personally think fusion dance is more Ki than magic. And even if fusion dance was magic it's a different kind of magic. Potara is literally God's magic. But still, anyone can do the fusion dance so unless everyone has magic in them I don't think it is magic. Edited by Clearin, Feb 5 2013, 06:22 PM.

I think rival boost makes up about half the power of potra. |

Haha, that might work, however Fusion Dance is stated to be a technique, whereas Potara is "just magic." |
