He did write DBZ just did not name it DBZ, that was done by someone else

(Which might not be your falut) When AT made it, it was not Z... That's kind of it... even through that there are fillers in DBZ I would still say that the storyline is by AT... TOEI ANIMATION SAW A BIG HOLE BETWEEN VOLUME 16-17 IN DRAGONBALL, SO AT VOLUME 17 THEY ADDED WHATEVER LETTER THEY COULD WHICH MADE IT SOUND BETTER TO SHOW A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN Stories, SO AFTER THAT AKIRA TORIYAMA AGREED AND HE THEN CALLED THE GROUP "EARTHS SPECIAL FORCES' OR "Z-FIGHTERS" WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL THEM. SO YES...THE Z..STANDS...FOR...NOTHING!!!
