Well many people thought it mean't Z Sword as in the sword that was given to Gohan but in Japanese the "form' that Gohan was given was called Z Potential. But for us it's Ul;timate Gohan, i think it means the Secret Ability within Gohan and the story of Gohan because ,
Dragonball:Goku
Dragonball z:Gohan
Dragonball gt:Pan,
so yeah i think that's what it means, ask Tyro
- I don't know how to paint black skies blue.

Z doesn't stand for anything, it's just there to sound cool ^_^

English (UK), Japanese: ZED
English (US): ZEE

even though we say ZEE instead of ZED for DB over here in the UK

... like I said, it just sounds cool.

That's a good question. I think Z must stand for something but I don't know what could it be. Damaged had some good points there so those may be the reason why it is Dragonball Z.

Err I actually found DBZ to be more about Vegeta and Goku than Gohan >_> also Z has nothing to do with the Z sword nor Ultimate Gohan, the reason is because when Akira started writing thhe Z series he hadn't even thought of the Buu saga yet

I never said it was about the Sword or the form of Gohan, It stands for Gohan's Full Potential as he is what Z is based on,
Vegeta is no way the main characters of Z, In Z who did we see as a baby(4yrs) then at the end of father, Gohan it was basically the life story of Gohan but other chracters did have their moments,

Not really, it wasn't really about Gohan if Z actualy stood for Gohans potential then we wouldn't have seen Gohan lose to buu and yada yada yada.. someone else sugested it was the Z sword by the way

I'm surprised nobody thought of this, but I always thought it was because Goku, Vegeta, Krillin ect. were all considered Z-Fighters/Z-Warriors.

Yeah thats what I thought too, the Z-firghters as they always call them lol

Edit: But I think z-fighters and Z-warriors came from the Z in DBZ which still leaves out what the japanese word means lol
