What the hell??? I'm pretty sure that Pokémon could kick Digimon's ***** ANY day, and Sailor Moon & Dragonball should be closer to number one.... I'm pretty sure that people know Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon etc. more than they know Pani Poni Dash & that Neon Genisus thingy.... |

That is a good question actually, not to say it was the most brilliant anime of all time but I reckon it was definitely better than Yugioh. Also, gutted that Azumanga Daioh is so far down the list  I think that and Fullmetal panic are the only series' that I've ever laughed until I've cried at, I would have thought they would have at least made the top 30

You could just change it to complaining about the position it's in, lol. But then it could be because of newer ones being more known at the time of the survay. |

I feel pokemon, as a show, was a flop, but did well because it was a fad. I loved pokemon, but I'm able to look at the show and realize that it was the most monotonusly repedative piece of work I'd ever seen, next to yugio, which should have remained a manga IMO. I really liked digimon, but only as a show, the games I felt were a flop, not utilizing a proper system to convey somthing as free feeling as the show. as a show, I feel Digimon was much better, also, each series had new characters, rather than the same ones, and there was an actual plot, with plot twists, general progression in story, all the things that might have made pokemon a show worth watching over and over. plus, WB milked that show for all it was worth, which is ridiculous considering that there just wasnt much too it. I'm just suprised to see that Cowboy Beebop, such a revelutionary anime, isn't in the top 20, if not top ten, but thats the general oppenion I guess. (thumbs down on that list for me) |

Pokemon was okay, it had a plot, Ash had to get all the badges to get to the Pokemon League, although I didn't like that part because he lost, lol. I was only about 7 or 8 when it was on, so I thought it was good. |

.....If ya think that getting 8 badges by beating peoples trained animals with your trained animals is a story.....then I guess it had a plot. I don't really think pokemon had a story, it was just a idea for a game that didn't make sense, but was fun. the TV show....was like the game, but didn't the main character never accomplishes his goal. thats really all it was, some guy with a goal, the TV show. I don't think you can really consider that a story, IMHO. I didn't like the show after about episode 30, since it progressed very very slowly, and didn't seem to have a real point, unless he was in a Gym battle. I actually liked digimon more as the series progressed, and you got to see the characters grow and change, unlike pikachu, who has remained exactly the same through 5 or so television series and movies (excluding the first few episodes of the original series.) |

The show had several side stories, like when he took Misties bike, when Brock decided to join and make the group, Pikachu needing to be trained properly and so forth. It wasn't all just about gym battles and fighting pokemon, there where other stories in the series, even if it was just basic, it was aimed at kids who let's face it, have simple tastes for TV. If they made it too complicated, it would have gotten a diffrent audiance. Then came Pokemon Johto, I never really watched that, it started just as I had to go to school, lolol. The game of Pokemon makes little sense really, you are pretty much fighting animals for entertainment which when you think about it, is kind of crule, lol. As well as not being able to move through tall grass unless you have a pokemon, that would make it hard to get around most places. |

lol, yeah, "oh no it's tall grass, there could be pokemon in their". I wonder what happens if someone takes a lawn mower to tall grass in pokemon.... well, anywho, theres alot of anime that I'm not familiar with, and maybe pokemon is somehow better than the 50 or so that placed after it, in which case, I feel much less inclined to watch alot of anime. pokemon is, your right, targeting a different audience. thats why I find it strange that it's on the list of "100 best anime's". I'm trying to figure out the age range of the people who were selected to determine that list..... |
